Greetings,
Several weeks from now I will be playing for a "Sons of Italy" Italian
Festival. I will be expected to play some traditional Italian songs and
dances. Would you please suggest some songs that I might include in my
program? (I'll be using the Solton X1).
Thanks,
DVJ

Hi Deaton: I'm probably not the best person to answer your question but I
thought I'd put in my two cents worth in anyway. Popular classic Italian
(folk) songs that come to my mind are: O Sole Mio, Santa Lucia, Funiculi
Funicula. Here are the Italian songs I like to include in my shows:
Volare (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu)
Arrivederci Roma
Quando Quando Quando
- Scott (Italian-American?, yeah right), at least when I'm performing the
ABOVE songs

Hi Scott,
glad you have a good sense of humour (like I didn't know...)
Re. italian songs... well I might suggest other classics like Anema e
Core, Chitarra romana (Roman guitar), but I remember a thread by Frankieve
where he mentioned songs by contemporary italian artists like Mina or
Celentano, so I would say that it all depends on the age of the audience.
Maybe Deatonent could give us a hint on that.
Bye
Andrea

Scott, Andrea, and Frank,
Thanks for your replies. Paul Cruzan also sent me a good list (see below).
The group I'm playing for are rather mature (i.e. 45 to 70+ years of age).
For the most part I will need fairly "traditional" songs. Of course it
would be great to be able to do a few "modern" numbers also (maybe then I
would not seem as "mature" as I really am).
Does anyone know of an Italian or ethnic fake book or other music
collection I could buy in order to have these songs in printed form?
Frank,
I would welcome some of your Italian SMFs, perhaps a dozen or so of your
favorites?
