Definately Nord...

It has the same quallity B3 sounds as the hammond....
But 4 more organs on top of that including a farfisa
Some of the best piano's and Epiano's
And some incredible usedull effects
And you can add the piano's and other samples that you prefer, there is just the 5 default organs and everything else is non standard and fully configurable.

The only thing missing on the Electro is the wheel and pitchfinger so typicall for Nord.

In the end however you cant go wrong with either of them if you are looking for a fair musicians instrument.. No fuzz but pure sounds

I may be wrong but I get the feeling your looking for that good old B3 feel again. If thats the case maybe look for a Hammond XK3 or XK3c ( the newer c model has slightly better chorus/vibrato, leslie effect and midi control but I bet you would like the older cheaper XK3 just fine ) Both have real tubes in them for that warm overdirve. I had the XK3, thanks to Tony Monaco, and only sold it because of moving. Some guys looking for lighter setups are selling upper and lower XK rigs for the price of a new Nord or SK73. They are more of the full size board and key feel your used to and I think they sound great. Real drawbars and switches laid out like you remember and WOOD !
Rascals, Fudge, Deep Purple, Lee Michaels YEA !!!

Donny:

I don't have a lot to add except that you probably know I've been playing a Hammond SK2 for some time now (3+ years). I absolutely love this keyboard and wouldn't trade it for anything. It has the real Hammond sound, although I agree with Bill Lewis that the tube preamp of the XK1c sounds warmer than the SK's digital tube preamp sims. I sold my XK3c to get the SK2 and have no regrets.

One trick the SK's have is that you can assign an EP or AP or other sound to the bottom keyboard and organ to the top (SK1 can apply different sounds to the L/R split)... I don't think the Nords can do that nor even the XK's. And you can download extra sounds to the SK from Hammond too which the XK's can't. The SK's EP's, both the Rhodes and Wurli, are staple sounds at my gigs. So I just carry one dual-manual keyboard to my gigs and use it as a multi-keyboard rig.

I think the best thing about the SK2 is that it has a small footprint on stage yet it's a real Hammond, and that makes a difference in the way it is received by the audience and my fellow band mates. I know of an instance where a jazz organist in Atlanta advertised himself as a "Hammond organist" and he showed up with a Nord - people complained! I highly recommend the Hammond SK1/2.

Jim Great Pic and thanx so much for the review,.......
a Hammond is a Hammond period! Why I want an SK I really don't know as of yet but for some reason I do. Maybe I just wanna play Whiter Shade of Pale or some Vanilla Fudge,
or just Jam & trade 4's with some Kool Blues tracks as shown below.... cool2

or with a Band or midi it up to the S970 for style backup. I 'll try to get my hands on one in a store soon also.

Take care

The Crumar Mojo is on par with the keyb, and they are available in the US for the ultimate Organ feel... And if you want more then just organs in a duall manuall setting there is the Gsi DMC 122 with Gemini expansion board... Its the same company that builds these...

Both the keyb and the mojo are the top of the world hammond B3 clones, closer to the orriginal then the Nord as wel as current hammonds..they are not only trying to copy the sound but also the typical keyfeel...

another player review....

"This board is the board i have been waiting for my whole playing career. I just played my first show whith it and I have NEVER felt so comfortable and connected to an instrument*. The organ sounds are the best around, I love the NE series, but the do have a digital quality especially with the draw bars out. as an owner of a Hammond M3 tonewheel organ, I can say, this thing is a hammond.

So what you want to know and what you need to know.

Leslie Sim- I dig it enough to leave my Hughes and Kettner Rotosphere and my Motion Sound 145 at home.

Extra sounds- *here's where the tweaking came in. I reprogrammed the ten presets, and within each patch, pick the right sound, the right effect and amount, assigned the foot controller, foot switch and damper to do what I wanted, picked the organ engine I wanted, assigned sounds to the upper and lower manual as I desired muting organ on extra voices (lower manual is a separate midi controller for me)

After those tweaks.... the board is UN REAL!!! Out of the box, honestly I wasn't happy, now I LOVE IT!!! If you customize you boards, this is in my opinion the very best performance keyboard I have ever played. The sounds are full and authentic and grimey when needed and powerful when needed, I use it with a crybaby wah and it is funky ass all hell.....

And it is light as hell and fit in a case the size of a guitar case. Own many great keyboards, motif es, korg cx3, voce v5+, virus ti, ,hammond m3, etc..... this is my favorite keyboard I have ever owned, and I enjoyed performing on it and hearing the rich beautiful sounds it made tonight perhaps as much as I have ever enjoyed performing." cool2
