Within the last 6 weeks I bought a Yamaha Psr S750, my plan was to sell my Roland G70 and use the PsrS750 and avail of its endless supply of excellent styles. I would also benefit from its very light weight and ease of movement for gigs. My long term plan was to up grade to a high end Yamaha model later.
It was much as I expected and I initially thought it sounded very thin soundwise and very toylike in build. Anyway I put it aside and started to read the very comprehensive manual. In the meantime I got a gig with a drummer and I used my G70, well I had a great gig, I used sounds from my SRX 07 expansion board including Session brass and a very good electric bass, wow what a sound. On my way home from the gig I decided to keep the G70 and sell the Yamaha, there was no place in my head and heart for the small alien. My lefthand manual bass on the G70 is vital for live work. I finally sold the Psr P750 yesterday, no regrets whatsoever,
Summary , the G70 sounds are much more professional and realistic than the Yamaha.The G70 is heavy but at 46lbs it is much lighter than its old buddy the Hammond B3 at 400+lbs. I will have my BK7 with a master keyboard as a lightweight backup. I have to say I made the right decision.

Hi Frank,
you've got to go with what suits you. You don't know till you give it a go.
If nothing else, it has proven that it 's worth the effort to take the g70 with you for your gigs, weight and all.

Maybe a korg would suit you better down the track, if Yamaha doesn't do it for you.

Or a Roland BK9!

I dont think the bk9 is as huge an update to the G70 as many think... The G70 has many pro features not available on the BK-9 and the sound quallity difference is quite small..
