Greeting!

Would anyone happen to have a good chord chart or lead sheet of Paul Anka's " Breaking Up is Hard to Do? Not the 1962 teeny bopper version, but the 1975 easy listening arrangement that has a key change at the end of the bridge. Thanks!

Been playing this one since this version came out. The end is simply a modulation up. Just figure the last chord of the quad involved, play the last one as a passing chord and start on the new "one". If you were in "C", the passing chord would be A flat, followed by the "one", which would be a "C#".

It would be a 1/2 step modulation.

This is a good example of interpretation and, of course, talent.

Good find!

Isn't it amazing how Niel Sedaka took a cheesy I vi IV V pop tune and turned it into a gorgeous ballad?

As a young Brill Building writer, he wrote the tune....yeas, the cheesy version. It's kind of like the version of George Harrison's "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" that Kenny Rankin did. Phenomenal! Or, what about Jimmy Wayne's version of "Sarah Smile"?

That's the great thing about musical interpretation.

The full sheet music for the ballad version of this song is in a compilation album called "101 Most Popular Songs of the Rock Era" on page 234. It is available on Amazon.

WARNING NOTE: There are several editions of the this sheet music compilation album and some DO NOT have this particular song in them. You need the Catalogue # VF1523 version (not the VF1959A version). Check with any seller that the song is in the version being sold before purchasing.

The song is in the Key of F all the way through. Although there are some different chord changes, there is no modulation written into the sheet music in this album
