We're playing at a home tonight...large room...crowd of maybe 20.

Thought I'd dust off the Nano 300 and hook it up to the S970. Hadn't used the Nano in a long time.

Right off the styles sounded good...full with a nice, warm bass. But the voices, piano, guitar, strings etc....well, just plain muddy. I fiddled with the EQ on the Nano for about an hour, trying to clean up the voices....no luck.

So before trying to EQ the voices on the S970, I hooked up one Bose unit to the S970. I ran a two into one line out from the S970 to the single Bose.

When I started playing, I was immediately reminded why I use Bose. Voices were clean, clear and sounded great. Styles weren't quite as warm as the Nano 300 but excellent none the less.

When it comes to PA systems, im sure I'll try the latest and greatest...at least occasionally. But the Bose will be, for me, the gold standard any PA has to measure up to.

The Nano is hooked up again to our TV for sound. It works OK there. Maybe some day I'll fiddle with the Nano and S970 again when the mood strikes me.

Bose must have something going for it, because so many other companies are making units that try to sound, and look, like the Bose. I'm hoping somebody does achieve something better for less money!

Nice picture. I'd have to hear it though. No more speculation from here!

I find that hard to believe about the Nano 300, I have had the compact , Nano 300 side by side and did not have that same experience. I did notice more of an even spread with the compact but with less impact, perfect background sound where the nano was more aggressive but not as much of a spread.

As for the Maui 5, I know the development team used the compact and similar products ( which are available in other countries ) to achieve basically a next generation or version of the current systems but with added benefits.

I was also a big compact fan, and still have my hand in selling a few.

I wanted to sell my Nano 300 but kept it, as I'm quite happy with its overall performance and clarity. Only if I compare it directly with the db technologies K300, the Nano pales against the K300's outstanding clarity in mids and highs.

My impressions exactly, as far as the Nano goes.

The Nano is not a bad PA by any means...my impression.

I did have the two tweeters stacked on top of the bass unit. I've got some time today and may give it a whirl to try to EQ it again to clean up the highs.

Good comments all.

Did you use the pole on the nano 300, or left it on the sub, that would explain the hi end loss
