Congratulations! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of it.

I was wondering, though, why you hardly used your PSR-S950 (if it's not personal, that is).

If you can compare the keys, I'd appreciate it. I've read somewhere that the S-970's keys feel better.

Thanks.

Have lots of fun with it!

I have seen anything written by Yamaha that they changed the keybed on the S970 from the S950..
or the speakers for that matter. If I'm wrong please correct me...?....
The next exciting thing from Yamaha will be a New version of TYROS 6 or something totally new in their TOTL arranger line,.......that's said

congratulations on your New S970

I read it at Eileen's Yamaha Keyboard Players website. In fact, she confirmed what someone else said.

Has Yamaha confirmed this about the keybed in its SPECS I would assume if it was improved they would state it as a upgrade in their feature list on the S970? or is it that people just feel something different because of its "newness" vs a used keybed?......I would have to personally play one to be sure but I highly doubt it....

Congrats! Should be exciting checking out the new features. Yes, let us know what you think after trying it out for a bit.

The keybed doesn't feel different. However, the speakers are better. Wattage is the same, but sound is better. I remember seeing something official to that effect.

I had the S950 and S970 side by side for a few days until I sold the S950. Yes, I think the keybed is improved somewhat. Seems to be less plastic-feeling, but still nothing like a Tyros. The sound is improved to my listening. The speakers are not so bass boomy. To anyone sitting on the fence, I think the S970 is a good move forward, if you’re one of those that wants the latest improvements, be they ever so slight, but yet noticeable.

I had the S950, own the S970...

Biggest differences, and they are significant to me:

Larger screen

Active control knobs...use them all the time

Bigger on board memory

Audio styles...sound excellent live

VCM...love this feature..a person can really shape voices with it

Speaking of voices, it does have human voices...sounds pretty good

Multipads...I like the way the multipads are organized...makes using them quicker and easier.

When I had the S950, I used it for backup and took the Tyros to gigs....10 - 14 a month.

Now the S970 is my main board and the Tyros stays home most of the time.
