Any opinions on the Polk powered speakers or other brands.

I want a light weight powered speaker with at least 100 watts.

Looking for recommendations.

Dan,
At one time, years ago, Polk was one of the leaders in top-of-the line audio equipment. Their speaker WERE among the best. What they are like today I don't know.

I've always loved Electro-Voice for their combination of quality and light weight. Various lines to choose from within the brand with multiple sizes..

Sorry friends. I meant to say Pyle speakers... not POLK.

Here is a link to what I was considering.

http://www.pyleaudio.com/products/Sound-and-Recording/PA-Loudspeakers---Cabinet-Speakers

Prices listed are List price

I'll need it for small venues. Probably buy a second to make a pair.

If you don't need strong and deep bass and some upper bass is sufficient, I highly recommend these (once again), really powerful, very light and compact, 2 x 90W RMS continuous:

or, just slightly heavier, 2 x 120W RMS:

How about this line array system Maui 5 by LD-Systems
http://www.idjnow.com/ld-systems-maui-5-...gFcphoCyAnw_wcB

I have the Maui 11 and Maui 28. The column speaker of the Maui 11 does not split, but the Muai 5 seems to split in 3 parts, which would make it much easier to carry. Also, the Maui 5 has a built in mixer while the 11 and 28 do not. A great improvement, and the price is good in my opinion.
