Was wondering if any of you have any experience with the TC Helicon Voice tone Harmony-M and whether this small and budget unit is actually better than the built in unit on the Korg PA800.
Anyone being able to shed some more light on this, much appreciated !

Regards,
John

I actually had it for about three months.
I tried to use it with my Pa50, and for the harmonies guided by right hand was alright, but it had issues with understanding the left hand/accomp. I did not have Pa800, so I can not comment on that, but Harmony-M was not too bad at all.
So, that is why I'd like an onboard harmonizer - convenience and compatibility.

I had and used one for several years, mostly with BK7m and E50. It is a really good unit. Excellent voice processing. There are no fancy presets, but you can build your own easily. It's a good basic unit and did everything I asked it to do.
There was an OS upgrade that made the chord tracking much better.

If you are gonna use it with pa800 it will be just a waste of money.Pa800 has nice vocal processor.Plus you can make user scales too.

The Harmony-M sounds/works fine with excellent reverb/effects. The price dropped to < half of the initial price and is around € 120,- now.
I bought one to 'isolate' singing from the Tyros4 because the mic input is affected by the main-volume of T4.
Also like the basic user interface (no whistles and bells, screen menu's and countless presets) almost like the Korg iH.

Following this discussion, I realize that it is a great deal to get Harmony M for 120-130 euro now.
I payed about 300 when I bough it in 2008 and sold it soon after that for the same money.
I am thinking gettin another one now...

Got a fast and remarkably reply from someone at Helicon itself :

"...Dear John,

Thank you for contacting TC Helicon Support.

I'll be honest with you here - since we've never supported the PA800 or the Helicon functionality inside it, it's a bit hard to compare directly. But from what I've been able to dig up, it features functionality that's somewhere in between a Harmony-M and the higher-end VoiceLive 2.
This boils down to: you wouldn't be getting the full functionality of the PA800 with a Harmony-M...."

So if this is true it would be a waste of money, or so it seems...

regards,
John

I don't know.

I did not hear any great demo of how Pa800 (or Pa900 for that matter) deal with the Vocal Harmony in real life.
But I did hear Harmony M.

It's true the Harmony M only have 2 voices, only 10 presets, but the QUALITY is great.
Here's one or two links. Plus those on TC Helicon website.

Can anyone post something of Korg Pa800 or 900? Some real songs like these.
I honestly would like to be prove wrong that Harmony M is better!

I know it's a bit soon but all these were recorded on the Pa800 approx. 5 years ago.
