Hi,
I was so sorry to hear yesterday that John Barry has passed away.

I really luved his movie scores. No so much the James Bond themes, but the themes to movies such as Dances with Wolves, Out of Africa, Indecent Proposal etc. I think one of my favourites was Chaplin.
I used to listen to his music for hours at a time.

Mine's the Midnight Cowboy theme perfomed by the great Toots Thielemans.

I also enjoyed a lot of his work...One nice thing...even though he is gone and will be missed...we have his music forever...

Who will do the next bond film?
Ian, UD, Scott,Diki, Bill, Chas, Dennis, Donny, etc..etc..

Any Brits on here old enough to remember his UK hit version of The Ventures' Walk Don't Run? I think he also did the music for the hit UK TV show Juke Box Jury. His guitar player went by the name of Vic Flick - always wondered if that was his real name.

Hi,
definately remember the tune.

Amazing the different types of music he was involved in, I had no idea. Even though I'd grown up watching Bond movies, i'd never really paid much attention as to who composed the themes.

It was Dances with Wolves, that really made me sit up & take note. I luved it. It was after that, when I started to hunt around for cd's that I began to realize just how many wonderful movie themes he'd composed.

I certainly had no idea of his earlier history, but thanks to your link Ian, I found out lots more.

Yes, thanks for that link, Ian. One of the panels on the side shows a tune called "Hit & Miss". This was the tune I spoke of earlier as the theme music for that huge UK Juke Box Jury show - required viewing on Saturday evening for millions. The 'panel' would review a half hours worth of new releases and vote on whether they thought a record would make the charts or not. Such memories. Man, that's a long time ago.
