Hi guys, been a long time.

My MIC input on my PSR 3000 is broken. The pot has to be pushed and hold in for it to work, and there is a lot of "static" in the sound. Do any of you guys know where I can get a new one? Is this a separate circuit? or is it part of mainboard? Any input I can get on this would be helpful.

Doc-z

Sounds like what you need is a qualified repair technician.

Doc,

The mic trim pot is on a narrow PC board that also holds the mic/line switch, mic connector, and a few other components. The pot is not a separate item, however, a good repair technician could probably replace it without replacing the entire board. I would have to search my repair CD to find the part number for the board, but you could call Yamaha in California at (714)522-9000 and get the part number and the price.

Good Luck,

Gary

The part number is WB827100. I do not know how much it costs. It's the AM Circuit Board, it's buried under a couple other boards, and this is a job that should be done by a professional repair person. It's not something most folks could tackle themselves.

Good Luck,

Gary

Gary at this pointy could the entire repair bill be almost as much as the keyboard is worth?

Thanks Gary! Wov where did you get a repair cd for the psr-3000? As for the technician, I'm a sertified computer repair technician and I can handle a soldering iron just wanted to research all I could before cracking this baby open. I'll contact Yamaha Sweden for the part number. Does your cd have disassembly guide as well? Is it a full service manual?

I purchased the CD from Yamaha USA a couple years ago. It does have all the guides, layouts, everything.

The toughest part about disassembly is removing all the screws from the bottom of the keyboard. Additionally, the card reader must be unscrewed from the case before the case is opened--it opens from front to back like a book. The ribbon cable on the card reader is very short, however, if you unscrew the reader, which is held in place by just two screws, you can leave it connected to the cable by carefully inserting the reader through the housing opening as you slowly open the board.

The trip pot is a standard pot, and if you're handy with a soldering iron and work with PC boards you can remove the old one and solder a new one in place, thereby saving you the cost of the entire board. Email me at travlin_easy@copper.net and I'll send you the PDF file of the board so you can look at the component parts and their values.

Cheers,

Gary
