Frank, I appreciate you posting the styles...

I find the styles "lifeless" except for the great drums...There is a noticeable lack in dynamics..I thought maybe it was just the part volumes, but even turning up the volume to hear the other parts..trying to tune out the drums..I still get a "lifeless" feel from the backing..

Possibly, compression may be at fault..

Honestly, it reminds me more of a Yamaha product than a Ketron...except it has great drums..

Frank , would it be possible to record a short wav file..if you need to..adjust the volumes of the parts....I am just curious..why it doesn't sound like the Ketron boards of olden days...

It's really hard to go by a audio example.

I have the T3, Pa2xpro, and the Audya, side by side by side.

Each of these machine have their strengths and weaknesses.

When comparing styles to styles, there are winners and losers, then when you go further,

76 keys on the Audya, 76 on the Pa2xpro, 61 on the T3.

(2) great mic processors with vocalizer on the Audya, (1) on the Korg (1) ok one on the T3

Audya plays MP3s, WAVs, and crossfades, Korg does mp3s and crossfades, the T3 does WAV with no crossfading.

Midi files playback great on the Audya, Very good on the Pa2xpro, and ok on the T3

Which is why they ought to have similar prices. Only something that is superior across the board ought to be THAT much more, IMO...

Fran,

I have to disagree with you on this one. One of my biggest disappointments with the G70 is the lack of good swing and BB styles. From my viewpoint the Audya has the G70 beat hands down in this department. The G70 has 4 or 5 ok styles in this area but the drums still suck and I have to tweek the drums on every style especially slow BB.

I'd love to have those Audya BB and swing styles on my G70.

Tom

Tom, I wasn't comparing the style demos to any other brand , as much as comparing to other ketron boards..I am a longtime fan of Solton/Ketron products...and this demo does not have what I have heard from previous Ketrons..As for the swing styles, they are ok...I don't think the "lifeless" I mentioned has to do with the styles as much as the dynamics of the sounds...It could be the compression of the MP3, but it hasn't effected other demos with lacking dynamics..

As for the G70 Tom, you do not like the drums?

My guess, something is wrong..the drums are a strong point on Roland arrangers..

How do you rate the overall sound of the G70?
Maybe you should address the sound settings , rather than tweaking every style..

Swing styles I have covered...a few Roland styles and a few Korg conversions...

Frank, why don't you put up a comparative video?

Just take some styles from the audya, and similar ones on pa2x, t3 and play them side by side....

Or the same midi file played with the various keyboards (including the MS).....
