Hi Guy`s,

Like I said , I`m really enjoying my T-3 , but would also like a Clavinova someday.

The CVP-409 , is basically an 88 key Tyros 2 , so with that in mind , does anyone have any idea when Yamaha will re-fresh the 400 series to include the up dates that the new T-3 has ? , U know , better screen , SA2 voices things like that.

Link to 409 : >

Thank you !

They were Just refreshed Last year. I think it may be awhile. OK I sell these thing and I have to say they are a waste of money unless you want the furniture. Think about it. They are definitely NOT a TYROS 2. No hard drive capability, no multi pads, They are at best a PSR900 sans multi pads. They have SA voices, same harmonizer, I cannot think of any advantage they have except they look nice in a room.

I advise my "non furniture needing " customers to buy a 900 and an 88 key controller even a CP300 and still save a couple thousand dollars for the press wood and a weak sound system. Or better yet a P85 and a Tyros 3.

Hi KF,

Thanks for the info , I didn`t realize they didn`t have a HD.

Or Multi-Pads , for that matter , I guess it`s good that I`m dig`n the T-3 , now I won`t have to add-on !! LOL

They do look nice and they play and sound great , I tried a 407 last year and was fairly impressed.

The only thing that I would say is a downside for Yamaha is there "scat`s" , any chance they will come out with some real vocalees anytime soon.

I have tried searching for samples , but so far nada

Female vocals , like Sarah Brightman `oos and ah`s and stuff like Pink Floyd DSOTM ( Us and Them / Great Gig in the Sky ) , stuff like that.

Anyway , thanks for the kick back !!~! 

Take care ,

Gary 

I think the fact the Grand Piano sound on the Clavinova uses more ROM for that single sound alone than the entire sound set in a Tyros or S900 is a big advantage. The Grand Piano sound on the Clavinova easily rivals the Tyros and S900 hands down.

People buy Clavinova's because they want the look, feel, and sound of a nice Grand Piano without having to pay $30-$50K to get one.

I have been looking for that Spec but cannot find the ROM memory used on either board. The CP330 Piano would compare well to the 407. I believe they both use the best Yamaha has to offer.

Gary, I have a CVP 307, when I purchased it I pretty much played it as an arranger and a piano. But now with a Pa2xPro and an S900 I rarely play the the Clav as an arranger but play it as a piano. Up until 4 years ago I owned a Samick grand that required tuning and servicing at least twice a year when it was tuned and service it was a pleasure to play. But with New England humidity and changes of seasons sometimes it didn't sound so good. I eventually sold it to buy the CVP 307 and don't really miss the Samick. Never goes out of tune or requires service. When I play it as a piano I usually use the "Grand Piano 2" setting, it's reminiscent of what I remember Steinways to sound like. Of course it's been 30 plus years since I worked for the Steinway dealer and had the opportunity to play them daily so my memory may giving me false info

You may want to head over to cvpug.com the Clavinova User Group.

Hi Stephenm52 ,

Thanks for the info , it never hurts to look , I`ll check it out.

I live in NH , so I can imagine the pain of having to own ( and have serviced ) an acoustic piano , I`m sure it sounded super after it was tuned.

In the northeast an "electronic" piano is defiantly the way to go unless you have a climate controlled studio to keep an acoustic piano.

Take care ,

Gary 
