Since I do a lot of traveling for gigs, I figured its time to buy a GPS. I'm looking for something that doesn't require me reading a manual. Operation should be obvious and easy, and should have options allowing me to avoid certain routes etc.

What do you guys recommend? I'm not looking to be cheap, but I don't want to splurge if not necessary. Also, since I live in Australia and travel there often, would I be able to use one that I buy in the USA, internationally?

Unfortunately, most GPS systems have maps for the part of the world where they are sold, therefore, you would have to purchase one that has the ability to download and update maps from various nations of the world. Some of the newer ones have this capability, but not all.

Good luck,

Gary

Hi Chony,

You can purchase a TOM TOM GO 920 with Australia, USA, NZ, Canada and Europe maps already installed on the Australian Ebay site.

Of course Garmin is good. I have a model 260, inexpensive, says street names and is capable of loading other maps.
