Any thoughts about Sound Bars made for digital TV? Is it worth the purchase?

Could they also be an option to amplify arranger keyboards? It would seem to be a nice, neat, compact package for home use.

By the way, the above photo is a Samsung model on sale for $500...a little steep even with 300 total watts, and a built in 1080p up convert DVD player.

I do like the wireless sub

For $500 there are several quite decent nearfield monitors, that will in all likelihood be FAR smoother in audio response.

TV audio is on the whole (until you start paying some pretty high figures) anything but flat...

Soundbars, are mainly used for films, and use sophisticated speaker/amp setups with auto variable EQ and time delay settings, so as to fool the ear into thinking that they are surrounded by speakers.
In most cases they work OK (No substitute for being surrounded by real speakers though) so long as you don’t move too far from the sweet spot.

Not sure about the US, but over here in the UK even budget home cinema is designed to provide an accurate representation of the input source. (As with all things the more you pay (Within limits) the more expansive and true the sound gets)

Even the big name, one box systems follow this principle.

Bill
