I have been following keyboards leaning to open architecture for some time now.

The new aranger for the Mediastation seems to be the cutting edge off all things...

But an aranger despite its technicall possibilities will be only as good as the styles being created for it...And my biggest worry about the Mediastation is the availabillty of good cutting edge styles using this great workstation/Q-ranger..

For now i think the time has come to take either this or a Wersi with Vst's to the live stage... I know some people here have experience with the mediastation so they might be able to answer my questions

(( Next to that, i seem not to be able to find any information about the Mediastations Vocaliser))

Hi Bachus
If you also saw the last shoots of the qranger features, you can easy understand that the Qranger can have a lot of new styles developement possibility.
Qranger is about complete now, still to fix some time scratch latency with the Midi sync and to resolve the commercial license binary VST SDK and the elastique issue then we can release it to the public.
The first official Qranger show is on May 6 in slovenia Exibition: http://www.albin-promotion.si/index.php?id=104&lang=sl

About Qranger features:
can be realy simple and easy to load standard Midi styles and play it with the basic GM/GS giga library OR can also be complex if you then will change totally the giga sounds from the 18Gb sounds available ( about 2000 giga sounds) with the qranger sampler loader: http://www.lionstracs.com/demo/qranger/Qrangersampler.jpg

and also to change the Pitch shift/time scratch for each audio clip: http://www.lionstracs.com/demo/qranger/qrangertranspose.jpg

If you are able to use one standard Audio-Midi SEQ like Cubase, albeton, reaper, Logic.. then you are also able to use the Qranger, because is almost the concept.
the big difference are the CHORDS TAB session, where you can create a totally different structure chords instead to use the same mandatary Maj chord.
You can choose to use only 1 chord TAB "Maj" and then the chords midi table will convert in realtime the mandatary Maj chords to the all other pressed chords.
In qranger YOU have to choose and the full freedom to create the chords HOW you like and NOT how the mandatary chord is made.
example: Maj can be a Bossa nova and the 7th the variation of one cha cha styles.

So..the Qranger is only a smart and open system arranger SEQ where you can create your styles fantasy, of course, more is complex, more time you need to make it.

VST can be a good choice too, BUT for me not for use in the styles, because every time then youu have to waiting the loading time of the sounds and of course, the all VST used on the styles must be opened before you run the tyle. Bad way, BUT possible.

About the Mediastation Vocalizer, we don't have developed nothing, because to much busy for develope the Qranger now, BUT this can be one of more possibility: http://www.lionstracs.com/store/images/2008/antares.jpg

We have now another 8 ASIO OUT in realtime where you can run another 8 ASIO VST HOST: http://www.lionstracs.com/store/images/2008/massive.jpg

let me know if you have more question
regards

BAsically what i want to know is this...

Can i in Qranger import styles from all other manufactorers (this requires lionstracs to make sound setups for all these other manufactorers as they did with the Tyros)

With an open system this should be possible, and if the Qranger can make those styles sound just as good or maybe even better then the orriginall instruments i think the Mediastation is ready to make a huge jump in sales..

Somehow currently i get the feeling that whenever you want to use the Mediastation succesfully on a stage you have to make your own styles or at least make major eddits to it..

This week i heard some unedited Tyros styles on a wersi and somehow they sounded better then on a tryos without any edditing..
Since Mediastation has atleast the same sound power as a Wersi OAS system... you people should be able to make this happen too..

Sadly i will never buy a keyboard unheared/unplayed.... I wish there was a place where i could test them all here in Holland..

I don't even think there is one shop in Holland demoing mediastation...
