Hi All,

I know it's early for Christmas music. But tonight I recorded my version of the Donny Hathaway song "This Christmas" on the Ty2. It was my first try at using a mic plugged into the kbd. So I learned how to use this function now. I recorded it playing and singing live using the style Soulshuffle. I've never done this song live/on a job. But I may this year.

Hope you enjoy!

Take care,

Chris http://tinyurl.com/2zfwv7

Not that I want to start hearing Christmas music already (although I enjoy at its time), but this is a really nice job on this tune ...
Way to go, Chris ... and it is definitely a 'keeper' in your repertoire ...

Oh yes Chris. this is a fantastic job. Very soulful and clean. Your performance is very smooth and i love the sound of the electric piano from your tyros. The only critiscism i have is the sound of the guitar and drums. Both sound ok but the drums are a little weak, not much dynamic and it shows especially as your voice is so expressive.

I have to say that of all the postings that i read i always look forward to reading yours and certainly look forward to hearing your songs. I just know that it will always either be an incisive posting or a demo that is pure class and this one is of the highest quality !!

Very well done

Thanks for taking the time to listen and for all your comments.

Spalding,

I probably could have boosted the style/parts a bit more. I was leary of distortion though. My thinking was that with singing and playing I would "spike" the meter. Especially when I hit the bridge.

Take care,

Chris

Hi Chris. I dont think that its necessarily the volume. I dont know how many layers are used in the drum samples of the T2 but they just dont seem to respond very much differently in the styles. It could be something that could be edited in terms of velocity switching but that could take a lot of work .

It doesnt detract from my enjoyment of your track. Just my ears being picky.

Fantastic, Chris...

Does that style use the Live! Drums? If not, perhaps it could gain a little 'snap' by using one of those kits... But, like in the above, I'm just being extra picky (I'm kind of used to the Roland V-Drum kits, which have quite a lot of 'snap'!), everything sounds great... You should DEFINITELY add it to the songlist!

Nice job I thought the drums sounded good. The fit in the mix nicely without being overpowering.
