The Sonic Cell worked out ok...I actually used it with the laptop..
Using the plug in version to play midi files[great sound]..
I also had the EM2000 as a controller via midi to the Sonic Cell..

The laptop was connected via USB..and I used a USB thumb drive for MP3's besides the laptop..All worked well together.................but, I really prefer to use the G70 and a laptop ..over all...

Anyone interested in a used one time Sonic Cell[$700 takes it}..

PS: I recorded via the SC audio interface[24 bit/96khz]..super clean...

If I don't get a buyer, I believe I will use the Sonic Cell in the studio, and field recording..

I will use it tonight again in Wildwood.."Fabulous 50's weekend"..

Fran,
Question if I may...you use midi files a bit don't you? Do you use the laptop to store the midis and play them from previously arranged setlists? You don't use the song storage capabilites of the G70 (using a thumb drive) to store them?
Reason for the questions is I am considering a change by moving the song storage and arrangement jobs onto the laptop and taking it out to gigs, instead of just storing everything on the SD1+.Be good to get the opinion of someone doing it.
thanks
Dennis
PS.Sorry its a bit off topic.Dont meant to hijack the OP, but as I was thinking of going down the "gigging laptop" I thought why not ask someone who knows the score. (no pun!)

Dennis, I use both with SMF's..I prefer to use the G70 for Smf's..I can read lyrics, use markers, and have a chord read available with the G70..I also have the cover tools available..The harmonizer is also available with SMF's[G70]..

Mostly my laptop is for MP3's..although special request are available on the laptop[over 100,000 SMF's]..
There is no need for set list with the laptop..I use VanBasco player that selects SMF's from the explorer window..Using Cakewalk etc is a waste of time...No need to make set lists..
My Laptop also runs WinAmp for MP3 and wave files...Aboard is also KaraWin Pro software..this allows me to change keys on MP3, wave and SMF tunes in real time..

I also use a higher quality soft synth[VST/DXI] for sound source..Now I have the Sonic Cell plug in for playback sounds..

Overall you can't beat a laptop that is set up properly..

Thanks Fran, appreciate the reply.
Sounds like a good and efficient system, and one that could be utilised in my situation.
cheers

For SMF playback I have favored Roland Hyper Canvas[fully editable]..but I also use M-Audio Key Rig, Roland Super Quartet, and SMG180[sound fonts]..

Now, my go to is this Sonic Cell unit as a plug in[soft synth feature to use as the above in host programs]..Great for leads as well as SMF playback..
