I went back for a second look – I put away everything I have read on this forum and sat with an open mind. I listened with my ears and my heart.

The S900 is good, it sounds good, and it sounds much better than my PSR3000. I am not talking about the features just the sound, which is my bottom line.
My reasons:
1-Great sounds
2-Available support
3-The large amount of styles available.
4-The weight.
5-It keeps me in tune with this forum.
6-Bottom line – It fits all my needs, it’s complete.

I have ordered one.

JOhn, just came home from a trip to Sam Ash for the same reason and came back with the same opinion. Even tho I already ordered mine, I just wanted to make sure. I think one of the reasons it sounds better than the 3000 is the improved speaker system and also the new mega voices in the styles. I'm glad I ordered it.

John,

Congratulations on your move up. It seems the logical thing to do - we all need the advancements:

I look forward to just simply RECORDING a song with AUDIO and might even do one on the job for kicks.

I also will use the TEXT on new material I perform live.

It took my about 10 hours to transfer the 3K stuff.

I used the 900 at yesterday's jobs but forgot my X stand (stand while performing). I had to use tables and my neck is killing me from trying to stretch and sing....what a way to start out with my new board. The buttons are in different locations and I was hitting OTS instead of multi-pads, etc....it was awful

One of the things that everyone touts on the S900 is the ease of recording the arranger to audio. It's a great feature (wouldn't mind it on the G70), but it seems to me an awful lot of folk want to use it as a 'substitute' for the arranger's sequencer.

Now, unless you ARE just trying for a simple capture to go 'Hey Mom, here's me playing my arranger!' or whatever I would STILL think it better to use the MIDI sequencer to capture your 'performance', and then you still have the ability to edit out any glaring bum notes, or inadvertent 'glitches' in the arranger engine, and remix for a more balanced sound (we so often tend to lay the tracks down with our RH voices a bit too loud).

THEN, after it is tweaked, you can record to audio. But audio as a primary means of capture seems to miss the whole point of the wonderful MIDI capture capability of most arrangers...

JMO, yada yada yada...
