It seems to me that Yamaha did not make a significant upgrade from the Tyros1 and most of the tyros2 is not a big improvement in its appearance, sounds and styles.

I was considering changing from my Psr3000 to the S900,but not so sure now.

I must admitt that I may be looking at rolands G70,due the fact I mostly play piano now and dislike to much rhythem.I already have a Roland Hp107 piano and 90% of my time is spent on that with only 10% on the Psr3000.

Daz,

the Tyros 2 is a massive leap from the Tyros 1 no doubt about it. i still really like the T2 and i had to think long n hard before gettign rid of it.

the only reason why i got rid of it is because all I want to play is mainly Dance / trance and then a bit of latin and pop/rock. the motif specialises in this stuff and has soo many more useful tools that the T2 does not have.

i see the T2 as an awesome ALL ROUND board for any style of music BUT the motif is a board that specialises in a certain category which is what I need personally...

cheers,
Nick

No way I'm getting rid of my T2 anytime soon. Other than my laptop and it's many gigabytes of samples and vsti's, I haven't played or tried anything else to this point that overall does acoustic voices better in real time for me.

Of course one of the main points of an arranger is style play, and like others I agree that Yamaha's aren't the liveliest of the bunch. Still, for live work I use a minimal amount of style data, so that isn't a big deal to me, and I personally don't use styles in anything I do in the studio for others, or write from scratch for me, though I will use some style parts in the beginning as a sort of sketch pad. The G70's sounds were very nice, so were the Korg PA's, but I didn't find them to be any better for me, especially when I'm relying mainly on what I play vs a lot of style data.

The key feel is absolutely as close to perfect for me as anything I've ever had.

Aw hell, I always gotta be different I guess. Doesn't bother me at all. I wanted nothing to do with a Yamaha arranger when they were the hot ticket item here. I finally found one I like, and now it seems as if the once predominantly Yamaha based community here has shifted elsewhere.. Go figure.. LOL

It is a weird shifting camps phenomena ...but I guess rightly so.....
I hope some people will elaborate on this more!

A comment like this from anyone only tells me that they have never spent any time with either.

They are both excellent keyboards. Anyone should be able to find major improvements between the 2. Unless a person only looks at spec sheets.

It's great we have excellent choices for keyboards these days. They are all good.

However, I think if there was a head count among all SZ members, including the non-vocal ones, there would be way more Yamaha owners than everything else combined.

Well Scott, yes and no
I think the reason so many of us have Yamaha's is that we still have them along with the newer ones we have bought. The after marked is pretty thin for yam's because everyone already has a few, including me if you want to buy any
I am now totally sold on the E 80 as a keeper.
