Great photos, looks like some nice enhancements i.e. Voice control panel with dedicated Harmony/Echo, Touch Sustain,Mono, DSP, Var. also the lyrics/text button.

I'm happy about new buttons too, many of which were on the PSR2000/2100 but were taken away on the PSR3000 - but some are new, like TOUCH, SUSTAIN, and LYRICS/TEXT.

I am satisfied overall so far. I regret that there are still only two footswitch inputs. Remember that there are devices that go into the midi input to get a sustain pedal, freeing up the other two footswitches for other functions.

I also wish that Yamaha didn't take away the aux out.

I hope that Yamaha gives us a an AC adapter with a sturdier cord. Mine never failed on me, but having such a thin cord has made me nervous at times.

Nice pics, but holy sh$#t!!! Is my math right? Am I seeing 1899 Euros for the price? Doesn't that translate to over $2500 US Dollars????

Man someone PLEASE tell me my math is wrong or something!

Oh Boy....Besides the increased Poly which is nice...so big deal they changed the rocker switches below the display...some different display graphics but same old layout...NO Separate Mic Vol on deck gain pod control still in the rear...they did put a LCd display light control on deck.....they've added a Voc Harmony button with light that's a plus...but Im sure the speaker wattage & Vocalizer haven't changed we'll see?
S700 is the oriental model with scaling & some new styles....USB recording?
Whoopee Doo! Who needs it?

Arggggggggggggg!

Donny: I am sorry you are sooooo frustrated by the S900. It is an incremental step forward, not a leap. The leaps are reserved for the Tyros series. You know that. I agree that not having the mic volume on-deck is a minus. If the USB recording works like the Tyros Hard disk recording I think it will be of use. Pop a key in and you are all set to record. I don't see a spot on-deck or up front for the key. Is it just on the back? If so, that is another bad decision on their part. If I was buying a keyboard and comparing the T2 to the S900, I would really considered the S900. I have a T2. I really miss having on-board speakers as a personal monitor so when the final specs are known (voices and styles) I still might consider going from the T2 to S900. My guess is that T2s are going to go the way of the T-Rex as retailers will see the S900 as a more marketable system to the mass consumer. They (manufacturers and retailers) don't care as much about the few 1000 players that define the pro-arranger market.

I can understand the frustrations that Donny feels as he is primarily a vocalist...I, on the other hand, play only instrumentals, and the addition of the SA voices(especially the Sax) is really the only thing I wished my 3k had.

I have an S900 on order...I was in a similar situation when faced with buying a Tyros or the 3k...the on-board speakers on the 3k (and the price, of course) made it an easy decision.

I had the Tyros2 for several months...I LOVED the SA voices...disliked the lack of speakers and the price...now I'm glad I waited for the S900...it will be perfect for my line of work.

Even if they had just included the SA Sax alone, I still would get it...it's that good...but having those great SA guitars, trumpets, 'bones and a few others will really be a treat.

Ian

What are the prices going to be? If my conversion was correct based on a link provided here on the Zone the Euro to US dollar conversion would put the S-900 over $2000, actually the conversion placed the price over the Yamaha Motif XS... That can't be right considering the S-900 is supposed to be Mid-Level or Semi-Pro.

I can't imagine taking into consideration that the Yamaha Motif XS dances circles around the features of the S-900 and the S-900 costing more! That just makes no sense. Anyone know what US buyers can expect to pay?
