Just got an email from PGMusic about there new BIAB and a hardware item called Tranzport to control computer music programs wirelessly. With all the new features of BIAB including real drums and the hundreds of styles do you think it would be a good idea to get the new BIAB the Tranzport hardware and a new laptop for less than $1000. As apposed to an arranger keyboard. Of course you would have to do your prep work programing songs but you could put a million files in a new laptop with lyrics and play games during the breaks.

The 1 box solution will most likely always win through, plus if someone switched on an unsuppressed electrical item it could disrupt your wireless connection.
Enjoy whatever you play.

The thing about BIAB is...... it's not a real-time arranger. You might as well use SMFs for all the control you don't get. OMB is supposed to give you more of the arranger experience, if you are looking to the demise of the hardware arranger, but be prepared to do a lot more work than just switching on your arranger and playing....

I have used BIAB on and off again for many years. The one feature they have never added is the ability to detect chords played in realtime from the keyboard. Until it can do that and allow for other realtime features such as changing style variations on the fly and registration buttons I don't see it replacing arrangers. Obviously the technology is not beyond PGMusic's reach and having a wireless control device is a great step in that direction. A QWERTY keyboard doesn't cut it in live performances. (OMB software guys will jump at that comment ) PGMusic has simply choosen to go the direction of prep the song first before you play.

There have always been BIAB nay sayers. PGMusic in the meantime keeps rolling alone, year after year, release after release. Their products seem to appeal to many.
