I just bought my new PSR-3000!! This is a great KB...
I do have a question...
My former keyboard was PSR-630. In the 630, I used to play "Fingers 2" mode- which is similar to "finger on bass" on the 3000, but with one difference: in the 630 I could play only one note (instead of a full chord) and a sound was produced (not the whole chord of course, but only this note)- but that does not happen in the 3000..
Lets say I create Cmaj on the 3000 (using C1-E1-G1) and then I'll press F1- nothing will change. Nothing will happen. I will still hear Cmaj (and on the 630 it WILL change to F1).
Please tell me that there is a way to fix this...

If I understand correctly what you mean, this could help:

Go to Function -> Style settings/Split point/ Chord fingering

Then with "tab" button go right to Chord fingering and down left select "Single finger".

Hi:
I would recomend to use the "Multifinger" mode in your case, is new to you, because it debuted this mode in the PSR 1000/2000, 1100,2100 and now in the 1500,3000 plus the Tyros 1 & 2.
THis feature is like a combination between your fingered 2 mode and single finger. I hope it helps you.

I have never tried that "Multifinger". Maby I should just to know what it is.

Anyway- multifinger or single finger are not good to me.. because, in these mods, if I play only one note (hit only one key), such as C1, it will produce the whole C maj chord, instead of only the root note.. and root note is what I need...

AI Finger gives me what I need (IE pressing one key produces the needed sound - try this for yourself) but then I'm loosing the Finger-On-Bass thing...

Hit C1 (left most key) in finger-on-bass: Nothing will change.
Hit C1 in MultiFinger: you'll get C maj chord.
Hit C1 in Single Finger: you'll get C maj.
Hit C1 in AI: you'll get the desire effect- but loose finger-on-bass...

Bummer...
I'm sure this can be fix in firmware upgrade...

The finger on bass thing SHOULD be a hard button to turn on and off. I miss that option alot. There are too many songs that have that walking bass line that descends like in Piano man or Whiter Shade Of Pale ...... Grrrrr......... I need these options ON THE FLY !!!!!!

I'm not going to give away.. I'll continue to use Finger-On-Bass, and I lose the previous option (or problem) I mentioned.
Uncle Dave- is there someone in Yamaha we could talk to? This can be fixed by a simple software update ]-:

How would I use Multi Fingered mode (this is the mode I use most often) to play on bass chords. Let's say I wanted to play C with an E on bass. What would be my finger position? How would I play a walking Bass, so the chord does not change?

Starkeeper- this is a very good question, and I would like to get answer go that too, but I think that on Multifinger this CAN'T be done at all...
