I tried one out on the job. You can search for my review on this site.
Basically, the effects were useless, and it wouldn't work for a large job, just small ones. It did sound good though.

I have heard them at a Tyros 2 demo, sound nice but less low for my taste.
For the T2 you need 2x 2.12speaker or a sub system with 2 small tops.

Donny, I know you have bought the Mackie 450s, which would be my first choice for big venues, but I recently bought the StagePAS. They are a first class combination with my Tyros 2 for the smaller jobs I do (50-75 people in a medium size room). Great mid range, and enough bass to make piano sound like a grand.

I recently took them into a huge ballroom and tried them out as well, and although I ended up opting for their sound system, these little speakers sounded really good. Even the guys in the sound room were surprised.

Very compact, lightweight and rugged. When your back needs a break from those 450s these would be a blessed relief!

Graham....thanx for the info on the Yamaha SP300........I was really considering it, although a great med size sound system as George Kayes recomendation also, I like the onboard Mixer also..but opted due to my ever changing multiple weekly venue sizes for the bigger more powerful Mackie SRM 450's which do a wonderful job beyond my expectations........you have to look at what you need for your own services & buy accordingly.

I tried them out, and took them back the same day--they sounded awful in comparison to the Logitech Z-5500 system when A/B'd in a relatively small venue.

On the same order (by specs) of the Pass 300 is the Fender line called passport. I have not heard these. Has anyone?

The PD-500 is a 53lb 8-channel Stereo PA package with a "500 watt stereo class D amp.

I know you just ordered a stagepass 300 from me to try out and I want to comment on the sound of the stagepass system. I have sold the Fender Passport and I've never been impressed with the sound of their system. The speakers can't handle loud levels. On the other hand, the Yamaha can push all the power it has without distortion. I have sold dozens of these and all my customers are really pleased. Don has mentioned that the reverb is poor and I will agree that it's not really a plain reverb but rather a echo that is very short, more like a karaoke vocal effect. Most of my customers have Reverb in their Tyros or PSR3000 keyboards and use their effects.
The size is ideal for most small clubs and definetely home studios, etc. The size and weight makes it very popular. You can go to a small gig with just one speaker and the mixer/amp attached in the back and not even have to remove it, or you can take both speakers and set the mixer on top of a mic stand with a swivel adapter.
When compared to the large venue Mackie powered speakers or the expensive bose system, I think you will be quite pleased with the qualilty of sound this system puts out. I demo my high end arranger keybaords through this system in my store and the sound is great.
