Has anyone used the Serenade program to transfer lyrics to VanBasco?
I put the lyrics in Serenade but I can't get into VanBasco. I saved the lyrics as a midi file but how do I get it into VanBasco
Thanks.

Peter I haven't used Serenade, but I use GNMIDI with complete success..

How many do you need corrected?
I can run them thru GNMIDI and probably fix them..

If you want me to try , just email a sample or all the files you need help with..Fran

Thanks for replying.
I don't think I need anything corrected. I put the lyrics in Serenade according to instructions and I'm supposedly able to put them into Vanbasco so when I play a midi file in Vanbasco I can view the lyrics in the Kareoke window.

I contacted Jos Maas who wrote the program and he said "Save it in a .mid or .kar file and then load that file in Van Basco".

I just can't figure out how to do that and it's probably something simple....as usual

Try saving the file as midi 0 file.If this doesn't work, gn midi will covert files from karaoke to midi with lyrics.Regards Terry

Peter,

Serenade is a tool to insert lyrics in MIDI files. There are 3 steps.

1. Start Serenade, load a MIDI file and type the lyrics in the editor window.
2. Put the cursor before the first word in the editor and press the play button. No hit the control-key each time a word is to be inserted. The cursor will automatically junp to the next word.
3. Save the MIDI file

After this you can play the MIDI file with words highlighting at the right time in both Van Basco or Serenade or a Tyros keyboard.

My current guess is that you did step 1 and 3 but have forgotten step 2.

There is a helpfile at http://www.1manband.nl/serenade/serenade.hlp

I have used Serenade and it works just as described above.
I have also used the files with van basco, even though there are better players out there.I like Kara fun it you can use nice pictures for the background.

Well guys I resolved the issue.

First of all I was doing everything correctly. When I tell you what the problem was you won't believe it. It's always something simple.

The two songs that I chose to work on had long intros (16 bars). When I started to play the songs in Van Basco and opened the Karaoke window I didn't see any lyrics because they don't appear until just before the intro ends. That's right!!!
So when there's a short intro to a song or none at all the lyrics appear right away.
I told you it was something simple.

I'm sorry for putting all of you that responded through this unnecessary journey and I thank you.

Jos
This may be something you might want to consider puttting into your Serenade tutorial.

Peter,

I don't think so. This is something in VanBasco. And I'm sure the VanBasco people expect their users to have the patience to wait until the intro is finished.
