As you know, the PSR-630 and 730 are brothers.
When you take a good look into the 630's screen, you can see "icons" that are used in the 730 and not in 630 such as "Groove and Dynamics", "Digital EQ", etc.

Do you think that Yamaha just disabled those options in the software-level and removing buttons? I mean, do you think there is a way to get these functions on?
Did someone ever tried open the 630 and saw "free places" on the circuit board that the 730's button could fit?

This is very interesting.
I have heard on a camera manufacture (don’t remember the name) that disabled some function in the software-level, and hackers broke this and used the "cheap" camera with the advantages of the expensive one…

Just a thought….

Guy.

Nope, more than likely that the same screen was used for both models because in the lesser model it was still going to be using most of the digits/display so Yamaha could not justify creating a seperate display screen for that model, especially if the screen size due to the spec was also going to be the same.

You see this in a lot of equipment, not just in keyboards but in a lot of electronic devices that share a similar model, the lesser model has the same display but not necessarily all the functions are active. Just cost saving and easy compatability...

Likewise, the PRS1500 and PSR3000 are identical on the outside except the 1500 has a monochrome display and no microphone button, all the rest is the same.

But not only the print on the left side where the microphone buttons should be are different, also the motherboards of both are completely different.
