Hi folks,

I am looking for a style compatable with the 9000pro(country / blues with train whistles!)

Not something I would normally use but I need this for a specific project I am attempting with a friend.

I was almost sure there was a stock style just as above on the pro or at least on the extra styles that came on the disc in the box. I have been through them all and nowhere can I find it!

Same story for my collection of styles from the net or here there and everywhere! I know I had one somewhere because I remember having a play with it!

Maybe I'm mistaken and it was actually on the technics 6000? Or even as far back as the roland EM2000! Boy these boards all roll into one after a while

Anyways to save my sanity (bit late for that Tony!) can anyone point me in the right direction to obtain such a style.

I would be eternally grateful
Many thanks
Tony

Tony, if I remember right the Technics KN 5000 had
country style with a train whistle.
I will check it out & let you know.

Hi Tony,

Disappointingly, as far I know, Yamaha PSR/Tyros keyboards don't (at least to my knowledge) include a 'train whistle' sound.

The keyboard I remembered that actually included a 'train whistle' sound was the Technics KN5000. In fact, you can hear the train whistle played 'once' in the 'intro section' on my rendition of "Chattanooga Choo Choo", located on the 'song demos' page of my website: http://scottyee.com

Unfortunately, when this Technics style (big band) is converted to Yamaha PSR Format, the train whistle gets replaced by a horn instrument.

I too wish that Yamaha would have added a 'train whistle' to their extensive voice/sound palette.

On the other hand, there are a few Yamaha country styles which simulate the 'rhythm' of a train. Check your email, I sent you one (I named it: J.Cash) which 'might work out for ya The Yamaha acoustic instrument voice I might suggest to use to emulate a train whistle's whine would be the 'blues harp' or 'mouth harp'. Hope this helps.

Scott

Many thanks Scott!

As Donny Pesce would say....

You Da Man

Actually I could integrate the blues harp voice quite well into what I am trying to do. Many thanks for the suggestion.

Best wishes
Tony

Tony, I sent you the Country Blues style from
the KN5000, but as Scott has already said the
Train Whistle is in the Multi Pads of the KN.
I will check to see if I have a wave file of
a Train Whistle you can load into the 9000 Pro.

Tony,

You've got mail. If it's the one I'm thinking of, the train whistle converted into a fiddle sound, which actually sounds pretty good.

All the Yamaha synths used to have train sounds, including whistles. I remember the DX7 had some great ones.

I play "Chatanooga Choo Choo (on my Tyros and PSR2000 ) and use a Sax with the harmony on, then the use the pitch bend wheel to simulate the train whistle. Just an idea that works for me. Bob ( p.s.you can also add another voice such as organ Violin ect. )
