I've heard that Roland are launching a new keyboard at the end of this month, anyone know anything more about it?

I hope it has vocal harmony and an SRX slot or two. Roland's new groove box "909" is pretty impressive. I wish we could have something with those capabilities (synth editing, sampling, real time control, SRX slot, 2 D-beams, variphrase) in an arranger. Well, it better be good if it wants to compete with Tyros.

i think you mean its the Discover5 ?
its a midi sequence arranger. no auto-accompaniment but it should be the best machine out there for those who use midi sequences, like me for backing when i sing and play guitar.

thanks

The EM10, EM20, EM30, EM50 are all discontinued. Someone on this board mentioned that they thought the VA-7 was discontinued. That doesn't leave Roland with many current arranger keyboards: EM55, VA-76. No lower end models! The discover 5 is not an arranger. So, is Roland leaving the arranger market (can't compete with Yamaha),or surprise everyone with a brand new line of arrangers at the Winter NAMN? Clif mentioned SRX slot. That would be a great idea and something that Roland is accustomed to doing. They give musicians a good keyboard and they can add the sound cards they want.

How about a Roland arranger with SRX slots and a download site with styles that use the sounds on the SRX cards? Korg is already doing something like this for the Karma and its EXB expansion boards. I think the SRX plus styles concept would give Roland something more competitive than the d-beams and Variphrase that it uses on the VA series.
