I purchased a BK5 when they became available... and my old band still uses it as the primary keyboard..

BK5 Sounds great in the hands of a master player like Ralf Shink.
I enjoyed the BK5 I got from Fran but my finicky ways made me change ...but as far as the Roland sound I will always like it.
Navigation led me elsewhere at that time....the newer EA7 / BK9 solved most of that with dual displays.

Great video. headphone

I also had a BK5 for a while. A lot of the Roland styles are great. Lack of sequencer and weakness in certain bread and butter sounds forced me to change.

Did anyone ever determine if the sound of the bk5 was identical to the bk-7m? When I compared...the bk-7m seemed to have more punch.

BK5 sounds great. If Roland had built-in harmony and bigger screen I would still have my E-A7. I really like the Korg TC Helicon harmony but I prefer the Roland OS for ease of use. I agree-will wait and see what the future holds.

Maybe Fran could enlighten us as to the sound difference between the bk5 and bk7m. After all...He started the topic to revisit the bk5. A comparison is a relevant question.

Many folks have said there is a difference in sound..
I have never A-B'd them... but I have A-B'd the same name styles from the BK5 and BK7m... they are revoiced differently.. Maybe this is what folks hear.
