I've been thinking of deleting in songbook,a good share of the song/styles that came with my 4X.

First off, I can't figure out what songs a good share of those cryptic titles refer to in the first place. Anyone have a decoder? smile

Secondly, there are a great number of songs/styles I would never use.

Finally, it just is more difficult for me to go through my songbook to make a set list when I have to wade through songbook titles I'm not using.

So, any reason to keep those song/styles I'm not using?

Thoughts? Tx.

I've often debated with myself about doing the same with my Pa900, but usually end up just leaving everything there ... every once in a while I will go through the factory song names/styles and try to figure out what song the style is intended for - although many of them are self-explanatory - ... I will also try out the style any number of ways to see if there might be a song I could use it for ...
BUT, if you really think you will never find a use for a particular song suggestion, then just delete it and 'clean up' the list a bit ...

First – I have my Pa4x a short time. My answer may be correct.
The SongBook in the Pa900 and the Pa4x are not identical; there are some differences. I did exactly what Tony is doing with his Pa900 when I had it.

After loading my Pa900 SongBook into the Pa4x I found it easier to set up the same song with the style and that was needed – then I deleted the original song. Keeping the original song helped me to keep my original format.

I think Don and a few other members deleted the entire SongBook collection,

Hey, I’m having one good time. It’s not always easy to find something this exciting. I guess it’s because it’s ALL ABOUT MUSIC.

PS, Tony if the lotto comes in the first thing I am going to do is buy you a Pa4x. (smile)

I use many "Setlists" named for different genre, as well as different types of gigs. It may not entirely keep you out of "Songbook", but with the use of this and "Search", it will go a long way.

Just one tip, before deleting, make a backup of the songbook...

Just in case...

I came from the Pa3x and had the Songbook set up there but since locations were different rather than copy the Pa3x Songbook I took the long way around. I put both keyboards side by side and matched the Songbook entry for the style. Then I went thru the process of making all new entries on the Pa4x. I did delete entries of Songbook entries that I knew I'd never use.

I didn't delete the Songbook but I did start over with my songs.
When I set up my songs I saved each of them with a special Genre name. I arbitrarily used the number 1.
When I turn on the keyboard the first thing I do is touch Songbook, then Filter, then touch Genre and then enter 1.
Then apply the Filter and MY list of songs is displayed in alphabetical order.
All this takes maybe 5 seconds. If I want to see the entire list, including factory entries I can simply deselect Filter by touching the display and reselect the same way.

This started when I was using a laptop with a 17” screen.

Six lists on one page:
1- Old Standards (My Old)
2- Big Band
3- Light Rock
4- Up Tempo Rock
5- Special Popular Dance
6- Ethnic (Patriotic Jewish Italian Irish Ect--)
Each contained 22 Song titles, (no room for more) 6 Lists X 22= 132 songs

If the crowed was younger I had a second list with 132 songs with new additions.

The Kn7000 – Yamah S670 – Pa800 and Pa900, and now my Pa4x were set up to match the list on the laptop, now it’s the Ipad.

The Genre of each song was setup accordion to my set lists.
S1 –S2—S3—S4—S5—S6 Short for the list names.
Set up one of the Set numbers in the Genre – with the filter active. Select a song; lyric or notes in the Ipad (identical list) and I’m off.

Using the same method for many years has it’s benefits.

John C.
