Got one of these stage pianos/synths last week. Anyone looking a nice stage piano and/or a 88 key controller should definitely have a look. The keybed in particular is lovely - tri-sensor hammer action.

The price is superb too - I got a new one for £660.

Here is the Sound on Sound review - HERE

If you need a portable stage piano with incredible action and a good sound, there is only one choice..

Its a beats, and it even works on a pack of batteries..

Even pianoman chuck says so...

Typo in the title - it is of course the Casio Privia PX5S!!

*************

The action on this is really lovely. I appreciate the tri-sensor hammer action. The piano is nice, eps decent, other sounds OK, synth quite advanced with hex layers - but not something I personally will delve in to too much. Basically, I wanted a lovely keybed, good piano, preferably lightweight and something that was suitable as a controller keyboard also. I am in two minds about the MOXF8 also but I'll decide on that......

My only gripe with it is the fact the 2nd pedal port isn't a continuous controller!! Crazy omission from Casio (and I'm sure it'll be rectified in their next iteration). There are a few workarounds for it though so it's not a disaster but it is frustrating.

I bought one in December to use as a midi controller. The piano voices are great and I find myself using it more to practice my 2 hand piano technique. The synth voices and layering keep me interested and I practice more. The key feel is so real, like nothing else I have played..........but then I own a Tyros 5.

It would be nice if it had onboard speakers but for less than $1000 delivered I won't complain. Definitely worth checking out. -charley

I bought it when it first came out. 256 notes of polyphony and great keybed was all I needed to hear. A really good board for the money.

If they have the means...what's stopping them?

It would be out of their comfort zone, but i think nothing is stopping them and they are working like horses to complete this major project, and soon we will be amazed about the new Casio Totl arranger stagepiano workstation.....
