Afternoon Chap's

Just got back from my little Gig with the blind folk and have to say how much I enjoyed it G70 and all.

I was also trying out a new pair of over ear buds and I have to say I was really impressed with the sound quality and the comfort. For the princely sum of £20.00 it much improved my playing experience and overall performance.

I can't use normal in ear buds as I have very small ear canal's but because these are on ear rather than in ear I didn't have a problem. They don't shut out all the ambient noise so you do get a nice mix from the PA and the ear phones.

Sennheiser OMX185 Stereo Earphones.

Kind Regards

Col

I was in a band that used these kind of things as stage monitors back in '81! Just vocals (we had backline)...

Nobody sang off key, nobody ever complained they couldn't hear themselves sing, and we could pump up the vocals out front to almost ridiculous levels without a trace of feedback! We also had much longer hair, back in the day! Most of the time, you couldn't even see we were wearing them..! guitar

I still keep a set of these kind of things in my cable case, for the odd gig where I can't set up my hotspot Mackies for monitoring and the PA is ahead of my playing position (or I'm jacked into a distributed house audio).

I keep a pair of more traditional earbuds in my bag at all times. They don't fit my ears very well though. These look better.

Saswick, where do you plug the ear buds into and what exactly do you hear? It looks like a tiny 1/8 inch mini plug. Also, how do you control the volume so that you just hear the volume in the buds getting louder and not the whole speaker system.

Thanks

Hi Musicman

I have an adapter to change the 3.5mm stereo plug to a 6.3mm one. I then plug into the headphone socket just like a normal set of headphones. The sound in the earphones is adjusted using an inline volume control, tiny but very effective.

Col

My earbuds went away when the Bose L1 came in the door - don't need them. And, of course, the big advantage is I hear exactly what the audience hears - which to me is extremely important.

A flat PA, flat earbuds or headphones, you should still be hearing what the audience hears...

$4000 for a stereo L1 model II system ($2000 if you use the Compacts) is still a bit steep, in my book. But nice if you can afford it!
