Here is a link to the thread at Roland-arranger.com for the new BK-7m OS... BK-7m v1.06

It adds many new features, fixes several bugs and operational missteps, one of the most important (for me, anyway!) is the ability to write your own OTS settings.

Kudos, Roland!

It seems that some of the BK5 OS features are being migrated over to the BK-7m. Outstanding!

Please note, you need to have first installed v1.05 before you update to 1.06

I've been following it. Finally, after nearly a year of promising, it has arrived.
I may consider getting another one for my backup rig, but I'm sure keeping the PA3X, at least til something better comes along!

Thanks for the link Dikie,

Unless I'v missed something, one problem still remains! The fact that OTS cannot be selected via the foot pedal! They should be linked to the variations which can be. IMO

Donpatt, I never bought the BK-7M. One reason, I too was waiting for the patch. But I still use my E-50. On the E-50, it works the other way around... an OTS may or may not (at the user's option) change the style variation. This is the opposite of Yamaha's philosophy, where selecting a new variation can optionally change the upper & lower voices.
Also: couldn't the variation change AND the OTS change both be part of a User Program ("registration")? Surely this module lets you program two of the 7 switches on the FC-7 for "User Program Up" and "User Program Down"? Good question, I would like to know myself!

According to the v1.06 addendum, here are the new FC-7 assignments:

Start/Stop, Intro, Ending, Variation1,
Variation2, Variation3, Variation4,
Bass Inversion, Arranger Hold,
FillIn Half Bar
Fill Ritardando
Arr. Rit Tempo
Arr. Acc
Tempo
Arranger Chord Off,
Perf. Next, Perf. Prev,
Portamento, Hold, Soft, Sostenuto,
Lower Hold, Track Mute, Break Mute,
Part Ex. UP2/1
Reset/Start, AudioXfade,
Fade Out, ChordRecOff, Melody Intelligent,
Mfx Switch
Rotary S/F

so no, you can't select OTS from the FC-7 (I'd sure like that!) but yes, you CAN select Performance Up/Down... (or Next/Previous, as they call it)
