Now this I can listen to all day long! Reminds me a lot of the early Andre Previn and Peter Nero stuff.

Wehn i am in the right mood, this great played music certainly has its place. Alan allways keeps surprising me.

What even more surprises me is the fact that he seems one of the very few keyboardistst that uses 3 keyboards and some modules on top of that...

This is top quality stuff, great playing and recording sound quality.

What gear is Alan using? Are these sounds all coming from

modules or from the keyboards we see in the video?

Beautiful

Looks, and sounds, as if at least the styles are coming from BK7M. Maybe lead voices too, not sure, be he seems to be changing Performances from it.

According to his web site, Alan uses:

"One weighted Yamaha KX-88 mother board (old but built like a tank and the action is awesome) and two synths with Emu samplers and various expanders plus bass pedals and two drum units - all live - no extra help required!"

The other keyboards appear to be a Yamaha SY-99 and a Korg synth (not sure of the model) above it. The drum machines have been the same ones for quite some time...the one on his left, that he plays live fills on with his fingers, looks like a Boss.

He uses no auto accompaniment and no arranger modules, but plays all parts live.

He is one of my favorite keyboard players...he makes it look so easy...wicked bass pedal playing!

I love his arrangement of You Don't Know Me.

Ian

PS...He says he was heavily influenced by Oscar Peterson.

What appeared to me to be BK7m must have been an old black drum machine. He must be really good playing bass pedals.

Yep...the drum machine on the left does look like a BK-7M...probably because it's more than likely a Boss DR-series and they are made by Roland.

He's had that same one in videos dating back quite a while.

And yes, DonM, the whole performance is made extra impressive considering he's playing all parts "live"...even when he is using just right hand and bass pedals, it never really sounds like it's missing anything.

He is so smooth that it looks deceptively easy.
