Go to YouTube and type in Musikmesse 2011 in the search box, then in the search options choose upload date, you will then see all the latest videos out there.

No Arrangers as yet, but there are a few of the New Roland Jupiter 80 Synth

Enjoy

Bill

HD videos are usually HD in picture only. You'd be amazed at how few camcorders (let alone pocket solid state video recorders) have any kind of line in capability at all. And few demonstration booths at trade shows even offer a direct feed out, for the few that HAVE this capability. Then there is level matching, which again, few camcorders do well except for TOTL broadcast models.

A noisy trade show floor is a difficult place for even the best mikes and camcorders. It's just the nature of crowded rooms and halls, and mikes...

Your best place to stand is right in front of the speakers if you want to get the best audio (but even there, you often have issues of the sound distorting the mike or input electronics) but may not be the best spot to SEE what's going on. It's a tough environment for even a professional videographer to get a good recording, I'm afraid.

Diki,

Which Consumer HD camera (with LINE IN or equivalent) would you recommend/suggest? If non, which professional equivalent? Auto LEVELING would be nice too.

Thanks,

Not my area of expertise, AJ. Can't honestly say which is best. I think the new Zoom pocket recorder has a line in, and I think the Kodak's have them (or some of them, anyway) but as for quality, I don't know.

BTW, how are Ketron coming along with adding a Chord Sequencer to the line? wink

The Zoom Q3HD is great. It has 1080P or 740P HD resolution, 24 bit or 16 bit .wav audio recording or all frames of MP3. The best Stereo placement and sounding mics available. Stereo line input and output. Runs on 2 AA batteries. Uses up to 32 GB SD cards. All this for only $299.00!

Diki,

Thanks for your response. I would say it's about 80% complete. Why the delay? We figured we could kill 2 birds with 1 stone by implementing this feature 2 ways:-

One - LIVE MODE: Press button(s) to record chords played either on left or in Pianist mode (full keyboard), press button(s) to have arranger instantly play back that chord sequence at the start of the next measure (plus allow you to change styles and maintain chord progression too) as you play AND .... be able to save the progression for future use!

TWO - Pattern/Style Create mode: Allowing users to make their own RIFF (via entering chord sequences while editing/creating a style which saves a lot of programming work while in the Style/Pattern Creator/Editor).

I'll definately keep you posted on progress after the show as it's rather busy down here. The Arranger market in EU is so much different - how to bring this "love of Arrangers" to the US (any iadea you may have?)

George,
Thanks for chiming in with your recommendations. This seems to be a quick solution indeed. Do you know if these Zoom features exist on any Consumer HD Video recorder (I see for an example the Zoom is missing the Optical ... ZOOM!)

Thanks ... and anyone else with info is certainly welcomed to add. Now let's go check out some German 'soda'.

YES, how about making them available @ the stores?
there is something wrong when you are in New York City. Manhattan and AUDYA is nowhere to be found or heard, nowhere

how can someone fall in love with something or anyone they can't see or touch?

That's a good point, Lee.

I'd also say, at this point, concentrating on the majority of the US market might be a good strategy. Europe may still be heavily into arrangers, but Stateside, WS's and Stage Keyboards rule the roost.

You want to hit the States hard, I'd commission a full set of MODERN music styles, by recognized hiphop and R&B artists, and a full set of sounds that speak to today's musician, not last century's... wink

I'd even go so far as to say, DON'T market it with ballroom and 50's and 60's styles in it... sure, have the dealer point out you can load them in if you want, but nothing turns off a young buyer faster than a foxtrot or a schottische! Remove every last trace of his grandparent's music, and he is far more likely to think this thing is built for HIM...

Alt rock, crunk, hiphop, house, techno, just listen to what TODAY'S kids over here listen to. You don't ignore the meat of the European arranger market's needs, why would you ignore the majority of the US's needs..? And, I hate to say it, but what WE at SZ want is not the majority! Otherwise arrangers would still rule the roost.

BTW, here's my main suggestion for a CS feature... automatic chord input quantization. Timebase to be determined in preferences (or Performance). Nothing worse than flubbing a chord slightly on the first go round, and having it flub every time it's done again. Auto quantize to 8th notes on the playback ought to get rid of a TON of glitching (good for if you are preparing an SMF for computer, or just general cleanliness of play).

You might also take a look at an article or two I wrote about CS improvements on the Roland-arranger.com website's New Features forum.
