I put Off Topic, as this is done on acoustic guitar. I'll crank up the arranger and see if I find a style that fits well. For now... geetar/vocal.

The stress of my job is about to do me in. I picked up the geetar and was noodling around and hit upon a lick that turned into this song.

This is recorded live on Zoom H4 using onboard mics, then tweaked in Kristal software. Taylor Baritone 8-string, I think I have it tuned C to C on this song. Cut capo at fret 2.

Just a rough demo. I need to send it to the woman in the song, it's autobiographical. Before I do, if anyone cares to comment, good or bad, it sure helps a songwriter to have feedback. I can take it!

Very nice, Bill. I like it a lot. But I don't think an arranger or a style will do it any justice. It's one of those songs that will lose its sincerity when played on an arranger or as an orchestral arrangement. IMHO

Bill ... Another great job ... I guess stress brings out the best in you ...
I also agree that it really doesn't need anything else ... just you and the guitar ... really nice ...
If this doesn't make her cry and kick herself in the butt, I don't know what will ...

Nice job Bill good luck with this project..I enjoyed the tune all around!
Maybe just some nice duet harmony on the chorus...I'd leave it unplugged.

Beautiful song, Bill. From my perspective, I sincerely believe it is the best you've done since I've known you. Loved every aspect of it, love the geetar pickin' and the vocals are superb. On my PSR-3000, the Chillout style, third variation, is about as close as I could get for a style file, but I know I have some better ones in the style archives--just don't have time to search for them tonight. I'm sure one of the unplugged styles would really do this song justice, but still, that geetar really sounds great.

WOW!

Really nice Bill.
Maybe some background strings from the 2nd verse on could "sweeten" it a bit...but really, it is VERY good as is.

I totally agree with you. It will work as is just fine, but add some strings and it would be killer!

Thanks to all who have responded.

Hi Bill:

Nice write and a stellar single instrument performance. The "player" had it classified as Folk genre but it could be any of several depending on the backing. I don't think it will sound bad played on an arranger depending on how you "tweak" the voices/instruments. Naturally, once you zero in on a final version, a full, studio cut in whatever genre you decide is best, will get more attention for this one. Lot's of potential to my ears. Enjoyed.

Bill - great writing and excellent playing, singing and recording! The H4 did a super job capturing your sounds! Excellent recording and a very nice work!

Really nice job Bill! I'd leave it accoustic. The guitar pickin is more than enough with the vocal to put the song over. No use overcrowding things. Sounds great!
