Just started a Sunday brunch thing which sounds like will also add a weeknight. It's on the beach in Florida, so in addition to what I already do, a suggestion of "beach music" as in calypso etc and Jimmy Buffet songs was made.

Any suggestions?

Hello Scott,
This past summer, I did a country club beach party theme event and here is a list of tunes that seemed to work:
A couple of Belefonte songs;
Banana Boat
Maryanne
Jamaica Farewell
Jimmy Buffet;
Cheeseburger in Paradise
Changes in Latitude
Come Monday
Fins
Margaritaville
Brown Eyed Girl
Pencil Thin Mustache
Also;
Jump in Line
Limbo Rock
No Woman No Cry
Rum and CocaCola
Two Pina Coladas
Mambo No 5
Escape-Rupert Holmes
Summertime
And you could do some tunes that you usually do but with calypso and Raggae styles. I also used a couple of cumbias and bachatas. Good luck.
Ciao,
Jerry

Learn "Toes" by Zak Brown band. It's fairly simple and everyone will be amazed that you know a top current song. But you have to say ass on the microphone!

A little soft reggae doesn't hurt... Wait in Vain, Jammin', No Woman No Cry, things like that. UB40's Red Red Wine (written by Neil Diamond!) is also a big favorite.

Want something more country? Several of Kenny Chesney's recent hits have a definite 'beach' flavor, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem, and When the Sun Goes Down are all popular...

And Jerry is right... just about ANY song done to a reggae or calypso beat works.

Thanx, guys. Hey Don, this is going to be instrumental, can I still say ass and have the owner like it

Does this have anything to do with "your face looks zakly like your......"?

I play a monthly gig at an upscale CC ... During July or August they will have a 'clambake' outdoors (their idea of a clambake includes steamed lobster and grilled filet mignon ) ... They want 'island' music and along with a number of the songs listed by Jerry, I play a lot of my usual tunes with a raggae beat and use marimba and steel drum voices ... (just two songs I do this with are Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" and Van Morrison's "Crazy Love") ... Last year the chairwoman told me she LOVED the 'island' music ... ...

Interesting Tony. A large part of my repertoire is Italian music and for the 'Island' occasions I used some Italian tunes with reggae, calypso and samba styles with steel drums and marimba voices. I received a lot of comments about my extensive 'island' repertoire. However, no matter the theme, later in the evening the dancers usually request the oldies and the more danceable songs.
Ciao,
Jerry

Oh man! ... Tony you're going to make me do a list that I have been meaning to do for years. I'll get on it.
Ciao,
Jerry
