Can someone explain to me why I would spend an extra $800.00 for the newest version of the Bose L1 system rather than buy the older (but new in box)L1 system? Why is one better than the other and how?

Thanks Donny,
I have looked at the Bose site often - but still cant' see why someone would spend nearly a grand more for the newer system.

Hi Donny,
I have just about decided to bite the bullet and get a Bose system. What I am now trying to sort out is which one to buy. I don't sing or use singers - or play with other players - so all I really need is something for my keyboard. The local Guitar Center has them but they are of no help at all. Some people have said they like the tone match setup of the newer modle but I am not sure it would be of value to me. Maybe a few others here will chip in with thier experience.

If you haven't taken YOUR keyboard to the store and play through it at performance volume I would suggest you do so asap BEFORE you buy it!!! .....plus A/B it with other Speakers systems like Mackie, JBL, etc, to see if this is what you need.....then make an educated decision.

Hammer,

Talk with Don Mason--he uses both the new and older model. The difference, IMO, is almost insignificant, but Don can fill you in on the details. You can reach him atdmason43@bellsouth.net .

Good Luck,

Gary

Deane,
I have two of the old ones, as you know, and HankB has a new one I've used a lot. No way is the difference in price worth it to me.
The new one is a little smaller, and the speakers disperse the sound even better, though not significantly better to me.
I'll be back at the club Tuesday. Bring your T3 and try it yourself!

What are you using for a keyboard and are you happy with the piano sound coming out of you Bose system in mono.

I'm using the PSR3000 and the piano is better in stereo, but still not good.

I have set up the Bose AND two powered speakers on three occasions, side by side, and a-b'd them. In my opinion, and in the opinions of those that were there for the demo, the Bose sounded better, whether using styles or solo piano.
Right now I'm using mostly the Roland E50 keyboard. I'm not thrilled with the pianos, but it has nothing to do with the Bose.
I've tried hard to hear any phase cancellation in the pianos, and experimented with Tyros 2 and S900. If it's there I can't hear it.
Regarding stereo; I feel the Bose is superior because you can better distinguish all the nuances and sounds that are sometimes lost with conventional systems, particularly when those systems are not properly equalized.
Hope this helps.
