Who said anything about new?..Roland doesn't have to release a new KB like Yamaha every year or so....it's features & sounds & styles speak for themselves....
A great DEMO played by a Real pro is
NEVER Old.

Roland lover

Ian it wasn't meant for NEW NEWS....

it was just to let people understand you dont need a NEW KB every year .....when you get a great sound like in these demos by someone who can show them off.
New doesn't make you more talented. Why cant you just appreciate a quality instrument that Roland has produced?

I don't think Roland needs a new arranger for me. I will be digging into this one for another year or so. it is deep and does it all when you get down to it and figure out how to do it.
I like this e 80 as well as any of the 30 or so keyboards I have or have had.

Why are the Yamaha fanboys always so anxious to see a new Roland, yet the Roland users are, on the whole, pretty content with what they have?

Yamaha users were in a tizzy for a year before the T3, and we already see rumblings for a new S9xx series. What is it about these things that fails to satisfy for any length of time?

Me, I'm in NO rush for anything new, after having got basically a new G70 for FREE with the OS3 update... October 2006 was the OS3 launch, so my G70 is only two years old... I'm supposed to upgrade it faster than THAT, Ian?

It's good to be frugal Diki(notice I didn't say cheap )...I've been there, and still am to a degree.

I trade up every three years to take advantage of the newer technology...sure I could still be using my PSR-3000, but I also like having new sounds, and the SA voices simply won me over.

I don't jump on the latest fad for everything...my car is nearly 15 years old, and I have a 26 year old Yamaha CS01, and a 27 year old Jupiter 8, so it's not like I'm jumping around buying gear like the "Hopscotch Brothers" Franny and Don.

But, I do like to treat myself now and again.

I'm sure you do it, too...you got new toys recently.

To be honest, nothing that I already had, though.

My Zoom H2 is the first portable recording device of it's kind for me, and the SRM-150's are the first monitor system I've had for decades, would you believe it?! I've always either sat in front of my PA, or been in outfits that had their own monitor system...

I take a LONG time to choose what I want to use, and then something has got to come out that completely blows it away (not just be an incremental upgrade) before I get it. Something does the job, it does the job... Unless the job changes, why waste money?

My computer dates back to 2001 (it does the job). My Kurzweil dates back to 1995 (it does the job). My G70 dates back to 2005 (it does the job). My G1000 did the job for over ten years!

I simply believe the job to be PLAYING, not operating the machinery. So the player is more the major part of the equation than the machine. Now if only I could upgrade my fingers and my ears...! THAT would be money well spent!

Yep, I agree totally...probably why I like sticking with the same basic Yamaha OS over the years as well...not a lot of extra stuff to get in the way of playing, even when I do trade up.

I don't know about you needing a "fingers and ears" upgrade...you play pretty darn good as you are...your stuff is excellent and well executed.
