i have just tried sellig my sd1+ and the best offer was $1100(AUS) about $975 US...i bought this for $3100AUS about 9 weeks ago...just goes to show that you can't sell em, so once you buy a ketron its with you forever (or a very long time anyway)...i think my only course of action will be to try and get some info from ketron about installing an alternate keybed, maybe even a weighted one, although i dont expect much joy there either...its one of the reasons i was looking at the used g1000,because i believe it has the same keybed as the va76 and i owned one of those and it was excellent....

Wow! $2000AUSD is a bit steep for a 9 week tryout...

You may have to start following Donny's lead, and make your mind up (even if erroneously!- just joking, Donny ) to return any arranger within the return window if you don't immediately fall head over heels in love with it!

If no 'try before you buy'... DON'T BUY!

Oh, and dennis... Any used arranger, get a return policy too. Make sure that G1000 has no ZIP or floppy problems, and all the buttons work well. Check all the footswitch jacks and FC-7 jacks too...

And if you decide to go with it, post back after you have learned to use the Chord Sequencer, tell us what you think of it (there wasn't one on your VA76, was there...?)

to donny, out here the market is very "ketron, whats that!!..i really am not comfortable with the keybed, it is way too light and "plasticky" for want of a better term...the sound is good, the rhythms are good, operating system is passable, PC interfacing is archaic, fill system is too awkard and non-user friendly (eg in the korgs you can select where you want the fill to go), in the sd you've got 2 buttons, or pedal switches to push to get anywhere, and the jump function is a bit too rigid in operation..no long file names,no assignable functions to lower apart from sounds...it is a good board, but not for me, and as diki says $2000 is expesive for a trial.. i live 6 hours from nearest music store and 8 hours from ketron dealer...even the dealer didnt want to trade it in on a midjay (my thought was to get the Kurzweil PC1SE 76 note fully weighted piano/controller with the midjay and the Yamaha motif es rack)...........
Diki the seller assures me that EVERYTHING is working in A1 condition, and i d/l the manual and ive got to say that chord sequencer looks the business right enough...you and fran are right on the money, and no it wasn't on the va76, well not that i found anyway!!!

Miden,
it all depends on your location: apparently Australia isn't the best place in the world to resell a Ketron... but I will give you an example. I own a Midjay, that currently sells here in Italy for 1300 euros (1776 USD or 2151 AUSD); however, you can buy one from Synthplanet for 1100 euros (1503 USD or 1820 AUSD) and the current reselling price here in Italy is about 900 euros (1230 USD or 1489 AUSD). So, not a big loss at all after maybe one of two years of usage.
Clearly, you should resell it before a new model comes out...

Hello:

I agree with Dreamer, I sold my SD1 a little over 2 years ago, and I got what I had pay for besides the time I did gig with it and that was also 2 years, of course, the buyer already own another SD1 and also knew that mine was LOADED....I gave him the case too.

miden you definately need to keep trying to sell it until you get what it is worth. While Ketron may not be so well known in Australia eventually you will find someone who knows what it is worth. The SD1+ is an excellent arranger keyboard. The reason a dealer wouldn't want to accept a trade on a Midjay is that they never want to trade in an item that is worth more than the one you are buying.

While you may not be able to sell it as quickly as you'd like persist until you find the right buyer.
