Hi,

Korg has shown some exciting new features for the Pa800 at Musikmesse this weekend. For the german speaking members you can get the full story here .

Personally I was very surprised to learn that there will be an MP3 board for the Pa800 just like on the Pa1X. Korg will release a new OS by the end of May with support for the new MP3 board and with some other highly requested features:

1) Master EQ (Cool, but should have been there from the start)
2) Drawbars, volume settings etc. can be adjusted directly on the touch screen
3) Guitar Mode
4) MP3 playback/recording (requires MP3 board)
5) MP3 time stretching (requires MP3 board)

I think it is great news that Korg releases a major OS upgrade only 6 months after the Pa800 was shipped.

Please note that this is unofficial information. Hopefully we will soon see a press release on korgpa.com.

Kind regards,
Tommy

It won't get a second chance from me. They should have had it ready before selling it in the first place.

I tend to agree. The missing master EQ and the non-availability of an audio recorder/player did make the decision more difficult for me (the Tyros 2 has both), but now I am even more happy that I did choose the Pa800. The decision to keep the MP3 option secret until now has maybe been made in the Korg marketing department in order to protect Pa1X sales. I guess that the Pa1X stock is empty now

Kind regards,
Tommy

Hello!
I hope that the OS will resolve the PCGs Triton samples too;as you know its works only with an oscilator.
About mp3 and guitar mode:i very nice surprise for us.
greetings

Unfortunately a big OS release like this probably means that we have to wait even longer for these bug fixes. Korg has known about the Triton import error since last year so I would be very disappointed if it was not fixed in OS 1.5 when it is released in May.

Kind regards,
Tommy

Dani,

More great news from Korg: Korg will release OS 1.02 for the Pa800 in a few days so probably we wont have to wait until OS 1.5 for the bug fixes. Can't wait to test it out.

Kind regards,
Tommy

OS 1.02 is out today on korgpa.com. It is a bug fix release only. We will have to wait until OS 1.5 for the exciting new features. Here is what have been fixed:

Master Transpose: When transposing one semitone up (+1), the Manual Bass track was not affected.

Quarter Tone SysEx messages: Quarter Tone SysEx messages were not recognized when received via MIDI.

Pads: Pad configuration was not recalled at boot-up.

Song Play > Harmony Track: Harmony Track settings were not recalled when accessing the Song Play mode.

Sampling > Import: Importing Sounds from Triton PCG files only converted the first oscillator. Now all oscillators are converted.

Sampling > Delete Samples: Under some conditions, deleting samples didn’t actually delete all samples from memory.

Sampling > Delete MultiSamples: When deleting multisamples, Sounds contained in bank User 2 were not correctly updated.

Kind regards,
Tommy
