Can any of the pro and semi-pro arrangers do this:

During recording, whether it be in style mode or song mode, can you pause recording without actually leaving the record mode?

You can do this on workstations, and it's a really cool feature because you don't have to hit the stop button.

I can start recording, record say my drum track, then I can press the rec. button again (while it's recording). The synth goes into a rec "pause" mode where the sequencer is still active (you can still hear the metronome), but it won't record what you're playing. I can switch tracks to practice other parts (all while the sequencer is in a stand by mode).

Once I got my part rehearsed, I just press rec again, and it just keeps going from there.

It's a great feature, you never have to hit stop, to go to the next track, and so on. It really helps keeping the creative juices flowing.

Can any arrangers do this? I don't recall seeing this feature on any I've owned or used, but am wondering if it's really out there on any of them.

Hi Squeak
Wersi instruments up to OAS 6 have Cubasis installed as standard, and it can be done from within that program.
OAS 7 has a dedicated sequencer built in, so should be able to do the same.
There are some pictures of it at this link. http://www.yourhobby.nl/forumorgel/viewtopic.php?t=1195
Hope this helps.

The Wersi displays are very nice. Great use of colour and easy to see when you sit in front of one.

Wow! those are some very nice screen shots. Good color balance, and the layout is very well--more importantly easy to understand.

I just want to make sure we're all on the same page here

The 3k has this??? Are you talking about the "rehearsal" mode on the PSR's? I don't recall seeing this on the unit.

So you're saying the 3k will let you switch tracks (and actally pause recording) without having to hit stop. Meaning you can record your drum track, pause the recording (by pressing the record button again), switch tracks to say bass--then practice the part, and then press record again and go back into it?

This type of recording is a feature that is on the Yamaha Motif and MO series (and other major workstations. I'm not trying to be funny, but I really don't recall seeing this on the PSR-3000.

sorry squeak i misunderstood ! in the PA1X you can be recording an arranger style . stop the arranger tracks change styles and start the track again but the machine will record the pauses and the changes, thats not the point you were making. My mistake. It was 1.00am when i responded so forgive my tired error !
