Hi guys,

Somebody told me that sound of 2100 is better than that of 3000.
They said that bass sound on 2100 is more solid and stronger / "bassy". In addition, there're some voices are thicker and deeper !

I have not played 2100 yet (from PSR-550 to 3000) and I cannot judge these statements.

How about your opinion (esp from whom played both keyboards) ?

Many thanks !

Based on what you heard, I would guess that that person is not familiar with how to adjust EQ settings on the Yamahas.

You can get more bass than you will ever need by EQ adjustments in the mixing console. It is true of the 2100 and the 3k

Hi baluan,

even though I have not played both boards, I heard have heard both of them.

The 3000 is lightyears ahead of the 2100.
It has Megavoice technology and sounds much more realistic and closer to the Tyros1.

Here are some media clips of the Psr-2000.
I couldn't find any for the 2100, but it's close enough to give you an idea:
http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,,CNTID%253D2368%2526CTID%253D205500%2526CNTYP%253DPRODUCT,00.html

And here are some media clips for the 3000 for comparison:
http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/ContentDetail/ModelSeriesDetail/0,,CNTID%253D28337%2526CTID%253D205500%2526CNTYP%253DPRODUCT,00.html

As Eddie said it: you can adjust all kinds of things with the EQ.
The 3000 has more MB of sound. That should actually make the voices sound better.

Eric

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your posts.
I enjoy playing my 3000 and I think it's the best keyboard at that price range.

Hi there,

On selecting Keyboard Comparison on Yamaha's site, I've found out that at Column Tone Generation (Tone Generating Technology): PSR-2100 is AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling (same as Tyros 2) while PSR-3000 is AWM Stereo Sampling. Is there any difference between them ?

To the best of my knowledge the sampling technologies used in the two keyboards are identical.

and also, when I got the 3000 I didn't think it sounded hugely different to my 2000. But now, if I go back, the 2k sounds distinctly inferior!

Thank you MacAllcock,
PSR-3000 is quite superior than my previous KB (PSR-550). Just a little bit suspicious about rumour :-)

EWven though the sampling technology might be the same, although the megavoice technology is not the same, the wave rom and the samples used on the PSR3000 are much better then the PSR2100. Actually, the sounds in the PSR1500 sound like the PSR2100,but not the PSR3000.
