I got turned on to Ketron arrangers through someone on this site and I've researched as much as I could about the products. Went to see and play the SD5 and SD1 today and was knocked out by the excitement in this keyboard and the excitement it brought out in me. I found myself absolutely motivated to play and with new ideas pouring out of me with each dance style. This was after playing the G-70, PA1X, and Tyros2 in another store for many hours. In all fairness, I like the navigation system and all the bells and whistles on the G-70 which I don't think I'm going to find on the Ketron products. Nevertheless, unless the Roland E-80 changes my mind, it appears I'm going to go with a Ketron. Best sounds I've ever heard.

I'm developing a huge stage act based on a single keyboard. I need to access patches and sounds quickly as I play everything out of my head and will go from a tango to the Beatles to something classical, etc. Also the voice processor is important. And I understand it's got a poor computer interace and NO sequencer. That's about all I know of these units and I won't have immediate access to play them again.

Can all of you who are familiar with any Ketron product advise me what you're doing with YOUR units and what keyboard (or Midjay) would you advise me to focus on? And....what features do you like best that are unique to Ketron and what's missing? Any advice or comments at all that you have is welcome? There has to be a catch. This keyboard sounds toooooo perfect!

Thanking you in advance for leaving your notes below.

Sorry I can't help you with the SD1 vs the SD5. Today has been my first experience playing the SD1 and it was chaos in the place. Didn't get to play as much as I wanted to of the SD1. I noticed the SD5 prototype sitting in the corner. I didn't get a chance to play it and even if I did, I wouldn't know the difference. I've played mostly Roland and Yamaha over the years. That SD1 is really dynamic. Still hoping to get many comments from present users of Ketron products.

Lucky2Bhere,
I sent you a detailed email. The SD1 does hav a sequencer (16 tracks) and Sampler plus some feautres and sounds not found on the SD5. That said, the SD5 has the new sound board with authentic guitars and organ voices, improoved sax, horns, strings, better styles and some new features not found on the SD1 (plus the internal amplification).
Check your email for more details.
Thanks,
AJ

and the horns , strings and guitars on the SD5 sound great from the demo (horns a bit bright but still good).
