Harold,
I've recently installed the SRX11 expansion card into my G-70 and I echo your comments...VERY, VERY NICE. Though the G-70 only recognises only around 30 of the voices an the card (out of about 40 something on the card as shown on my Roland XV5050 sound module).
Back to the G-70, the card voices give a full bodied sound that I am very happy with. Understandable perhaps, given 64 MB devoted to the one purpose.

How do you feel it compares to the 'GrandX' patch, which I really like (at least in comparison to my K2500 and older G1000's best pianos)

What kind of music do you play on it, how well does it hold up in mono, and in a mix?? And how playable is it with the G70's velocity curves?

The Danish G70 Users Club Denmark (site in English!!) at http://www.selskabsmusikeren.dk/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 would really like to hear your comments too - good site for posting bugs and feature requests that Roland Europe monitors........

Diki,
Your questions are very good. But for an home only musician playing mostly to himself in a small room not readily answerable. However I will be more analytical and work on your questions for later comment. By the way I pop up on the Danish site under another name, kwbmusic.

Diki,
Did a comparison exercise and offer the following comments:
"Compare with Grand X" - SRX11 stands out more, brighter, fuller more resonant on bass notes, but does require re-balancing when played with a style, as it can overpower.
"Music played" - anything, Bach, Blues, Ballads, Boogie, usually rythmic, be it jazz, pop or even classical.
"Mono performance" - can't really comment, I use stereo and I understand many of the piano samples require stereo to get the full effect. Small room of mine, with monitors 1.5 metre to left and right doesn't lend itself to any sophisticated trial.
"Velocity Curves" - too subtle for me, I hit the keys and play, haven't got involved with velocity curves.
Diki, I hope I have added a little something to the knowledge base.
Keith

Hi,
I own a Fantom XR with the SRX 11 card and can confirm that its piano is brighter compared with the internal piano (which is supposed to be a Bosendorfer, so it's no big surprise that it sounds darker compared with the piano in the SRX 11, which should be a Steinway).
My opinion is that, to achieve a better sound, you have to copy the patches you like in the user memory and tweak them, working especially on the compressor and the Equalizer (both the System Eq and the Eq you can find in the Multi-FX section). I guess that both the Fantom X and the G-70 require some work to sound really good.
Regards,
A.

I'm interested in buying an rd300sx? How much are you wanting for it? Why are you selling it? Anything wrong with it like little surface defects?

The G-70 "The Grand X" is the same as Fantom X/XR "Ultimate Grand" and I'm quite sure it comes from a Yamaha Grand Piano sampling.
SRX-11 Piano is surely a Steinway Piano.

I think that SRX-11 on G-70 sounds louder because the internal Piano sound is balanced with the other internal sounds, while sounds on SRX-11 have no other level references and they are at the maximum level possible.
