No lie, this is affecting my songwriting cuz I can't sleep, so it's not that off-topic. There is a rat chewing like a beaver inside the wall and this has been going on for days. So I guess he lives in the attic. How the heck do you kill a rat that's not in your house? Thic sucker sounds like he's a foot long.

When you want music, call a musician ... when you want to kill a rat call an exterminator... no matter what the problem, call a PRO!!! ... ...

gasoline and a match will do it!!but I guess that is overkill..
Are you sure it is a rat...can it be a squirl? Anyway if it is lodged between studs of the wall, it probably has trapped itself...It will die there most likely..The noise will stop, but you will have to put up with the stink..
If it is infact trapped try to locate it [the area that the sound is coming from]..If it is an interior wall, set up a small fabric trap[it may just be a mouse].You will have to place this against the wall after you [this may be painfull] cut a whole in the sheetrock..no larger than 3 inch diamater[at the base of the wall]...A rat or squirl can easily get out of a 3" opening..Make sure it only has access to the trap and not your living area...
If it is an outside wall you may be able to remove the exterior siding in the area and make the same size opening at the base of the wall...no need for a trap. it will be glad to run away..

It's possbible it's a squirrel, yep, cuz we have them here. My mom had squirrels living in her attic. But I figure it's just a rat or a mouse and I don't figure it's trapped. It moves around. I think he's just being a rat. Hard to corner those guys. I guess I can just set a trap in the attic. I gotta get this guy.

There was bloke in Hamelin that had a system for this sort of problem. Bit of a musician too, I think.
I'll see if I can find his phone number
