Hi all

Can someone please point me in the right direction on this one?
I have Cakewalk AudioPro9 and PSR9000 with 'To Host'setup.
I need to re-produce some existing MP3's I did in new config. i.e.
1. 128 kbits 44 KHz Stereo
2.32 kbits 22 KHz Mono (no longer than 70 secs and/or max 300kb.
As far as I can see, the Cakewalk can be setup for only 16 or 24 Kbit sampling.
Question: Do I have to re - jig the result on a Wave Editor, if so which one?

cheers
Eddie J

Sound Forge comes with an Mp3 Plugin that offers extensive frequency/bitrate options for creating and saving Mp3s. I normally create audio files by recording direct to cubase (cakewalk audio in your case) and then edit/tweak the resulting waves in SoundForge.

Hope this helps
Chris

Thanks Chris
I will have a look at Sound Forge, although I already have Sound Forge 4, I will probably need to get to the latest version.
Compliments of the Season to you!

cheers

Eddie, if you are still at SF4 you will be flat out gobsmacked with SF7. Try it; you'll like it, a lot.

Hey Eddie,

Do you still happen to have the original audio saved as a .wav file? If so, then you can import the wav file into Cakewalk 9 and export that as an mp3. I just tried it here at home and it works. Of course, all of this is moot if you don't have the original .wav files. So you can either stop here and go with SoundForge like the boys said or read on.

Fire up Cakewalk and open a new, normal project. Go to the Insert drop-down menu and click on Wav File. Browse for your .wav file and click on Open. This will insert your wav file into track 1. Now go to the Tools drop-down menu and click on Mixdown Audio and then click on Export to Files. Here you will name the file you are about to export and change the file type to MP3. Click on the down-arrow in the Files of Type box and choose MP3. Click on Export. You'll get a new box that will allow you to pick the encoding type. Here's a screen-shot of that box.

Click on Encode.

You mentioned time (70 secs) in your post. Don't know how you will accomplish that using Cakewalk unless you control that at the .wav end. Soundforge would definitely work there.

Hope this helps.

Merry Christmas!

mike

Thanks to Tom and Chris for your pointing toward SF7. I will look into this.
Have a nice christmas.

@ Mike
Magnificent!
I just managed to follow your directions, although it took me a little while to do it, I finally came up with what I wanted!
I have now changed an MP3 of nearly 4MB into a shortened lofi MP3 of 272KB.
I managed the maximum 75 secs of time by using the fade tool and the delete. THis is to produce a short taster of the full MP3 for slower modems.
In the next 24 hours I will upload the lofi version to my website and create an icon for it. Hopefully then to do the same with all the others on my site.
Thanks again Mike for your help and Merry Christmas to you and yours
