Hi!
I was wondering whether the PA80 styles have been converted to be used on the PSR 2100 like the Tyros styles. If so, where can it be found?
Thanx
Sunny

Thanks,

Don,

I got the "Mail". Great raw material to work with, but they need a little tweaking. Inspires me to work with the files though and see if I can get them sounding a little better. The actual data is done right so that all of the chords play properly. I'm grateful to have them as I wanted to do more conversions anyway and converting the data itself manually is more than half the battle. I'll keep ya posted..

There's things I miss on the PA80, but there is not ONE song that I miss a rhythm for. The Yamaha styles are so much more "playable" for pop tunes. They provide good, solid ryhthm and leave enough room for me to add the gingerbread to make the arrangement my own. I can think of a few jazz/swing styles that were sligtly "hipper", but no one pays me to play jazz. (too many notes betweeen the cracks of these skinny keys ! )
Styles wise - Yamaha works best for me out of all of them. When I need more energy - I find a way to add that on my own.
MAke sense?

It makes sense. I agree, and have made this comment too in the past, but really, I've had and worked with my PA80 for so long now that I have adjusted every style I use in live play so that the "extras" ( parts that fill too much space ) are turned off. Actually, it's very easy to do and I don't even have to save this in registration memories... just open up the internal style edit capabilities in the disk function and save whatever settings I want to the internal style. ( it can always be undone too )

I think for me though, I just like the very basic rythym instrument sounds better on the PA80, drums and basses in particular. Also, I realize it's limited to two fills per style, but many of the styles have "sub-fills" in the main variations at measures 4 and 8 anyway, so it isn't that big of a deal.

Hmm.. there are a few song specific style that I would likely miss from the PA80 ( but I won't since mine is here to stay ) .. Not many but a few.. Pop shuffle for " Your mama don't dance " .. blues shuffle for the Stevie Ray Vaughan stuff, and actually, the other rock styles are generic enough ( except open rock 2... great for Honky Tonk woman and "all right now" ) .
Yamaha has a few too. The old "blues ballad" style from the 740 is great for "house of the Risng sun " and the 740's rock shuffle also tries to do these Stevie Ray V things. I did conversions for both that work well on the PA80..

Cheers
AJ

Styles of PA80 offer a very nice alternatives to PSR2100. It is very important that one listens to both keyboards. I have sent somebody to checkout PSR2100 and instead they liked the styles of PA80 better.

You really have to be a horn jazz enthusiast to appreciate the korg styles, If you don’t do jazz you won’t be happy with the korg styles for the most part. I can dig that.
