Has any of the newer Yamaha products added the possibility to play a minor chord with just the Root and minor third? A seventh with the Root and flatted 7th?
This has long been the system on Roland, Ketron and Korg, and it's how I got used to operating. I'd love to see Yamaha adopt this EZ chord structure as well.
I'm still an old dog that is slow to learn the new trick of complex left handed chords. I do the ones needed for each situation, but I want easy when Maj, Min, 7th is concerned.

A minimum of 3 finger chords are required...at least on the 740, 2000 and 9000.

My 9000 does this, you do not need three fingers. However, on the Tyros, in order to play a minor the easy way, you press the first black key to the left for the minor. I liked the 9000 way the better out of the two.

I guess this is more a history lesson than anything else, but my PSR-8000 operates as UD desires in fingered 1 and fingered 2 mode. c-eb triggers a minor third. c-bb triggers a seventh. Which 7th you ask? Depends on the preceding chord. If it follows Cmaj, it plays C7, if it follows Cmin, it plays Cmin7.

Have you naysayers checked all the fingering modes on the these keyboards. I would be quite surprised if the Tyros couldn't recognize 2-finger chords properly in at least one of its modes.
