Version 5 of the Yamaha compatible virtual arranger keyboard and style editor can be downloaded at www.1manband.nl

Some of the new features are:
Wave audio in styles for drumloops and rap & shout vocals.
A mixer window for fast style adjustments and live effect recording.
Exporting and importing style tracks to produce "morphed" styles.
Exporting and importing style parts to produce "medley" styles
containing variations of different styles.
Playing chords with MIDI pedals (and having both hands free for melody
playing).
Using Cakewalk .INS files for browsing instrumentbanks.
Controlling the tempo with a modulation wheel or volume pedal.
A drumset conversion tool.
A loader window to load styles and songs in a subsequent manner.
A split point to allow two different voices to be played with the
right hand.
A tap function for tempo setting.
Generate track events.
A controller window with an overview and easy edit of all controllers
in all tracks/parts of a specified type.
Random velocity and control waves for more variety in styles.

Suggestions for further improvements are welcome.

Regards,

Jos Maas

This sounds very interesting.
Could you please elaborate on the "drumset conversion tool"?

In the drum conversion tool you can edit a list of all 127 notes. Each note can be assigned to another note and the velocity can be adjusted. Then you select which parts and tracks of the style should be converted and press the apply button. You can save the edited table for later use. I used this to convert the percussion in the Arabic styles in the Yamaha PSR Styles forum (and made Bob very happy).

Hi Jos

This sounds like a great thing for the home hobbyist.

If you could make one of these so it could be used in a live performance, so that style and voices could be changed as rapidly as on my PSR2000, using either the keyboards own buttons or even if one could do it using a laptop, coupled with the ability to do any brands styles like Technics, Korg, etc. and have them sound like they do on the original keyboard rather than a lot of the conversions that don't sound just quite right,....well, I wouldn't hesitiate to get a program that could do that.

Is this possible?

Just some ideas.

Best

Hi Jos

How about one more addition as long as I'm dreaming? Have it so that say using a laptop when you call up a style to be used with a specific tune the sheet music that you've scanned and saved ,or otherwise the lead sheet with melody, chord, (and words for the singers) pops up an off you go into your next song.

I don't drink, don't do drugs, honest.

Hey

One more brainstorm. If this couldn't be done using the buttons on the keyboard itself, how about being able to save registration (voice) settings the the numbers 1 - 0 on a laptop along with the rest of my fantasy.

Jos, OMB Version 5.0 is an excellent upgrade to your already very useful product. Great Job!!!

Including the drum conversion tool makes my day!!!

Scott, changing voices can be done with any midi controller keyboard either via Program Change Numbers or changing Channels. I am not certain how the PSR 2k works but on the 9000 Pro it was possible to do. It works great on my Roland A-37 Controller Keyboard.

Thank you Jos for all your great work.

Frank, thanks for the compliment.

Scott, if you can get the specs for the Korg and Technics styles, I'll see what I can do. But I'm afraid that Korg, Technics and Roland are less open in this than Yamaha.

About the scanned music scores. I actually did some research on this. But I found that there wasn't much available on internet and what I found was mostly in PDF and not in JPG format. Can you send me some scores in JPG format, then I can check if they are readable on the screen.

Jos, I just tested the XG to GM drum convertor and it certainly improves things a great deal. I tried it within Cubase SX using the Edirol HQ Hyper Canvas. For most styles it worked really well. On other styles which used the Brush Kits, a little more fine tuning may be needed (9000Pro Bigband1, Swing2, etc.). In general, a separate translation table may be needed for each drum kit, e.g., Standard, Jazz, Brush and so on.

Again very happy with your upgrade.

Thank you

Jos, it's ironic that Frank and I were
just talking about XG to GM drum map style conversion in another thread on this forum.
Your program looks very promising.
Are custom scales that can be called upon
instantaneously while a style is playing, a future possibility?
