Hello

I found a silver "marker" from a crafts store. Not too bad, could be closer.

I just discovered the finish is worn off where I rest my thumb in between the window and the keys while operating the buttons around the window. I play in kind of a dark room, so when the light hit it just right the other day I was really suprized.

I'm thinking maybe car touch up paint. It would be nice if it was available with the little brush and also in a spray can. I sure hate to experiment wondering if it will match or not. Has anyone found something that is a perfect match? I know I can't be the only one with this problem.

I wish they would just make keyboards in the old durable black.

Thanx

go to Home Depot

bring your keyboard to the paint dept

they will match it perfectly by taking a Photo sample of the paint with a special scannergun by putting it up against the keyboard. It goes into the computer and give the correct colors to Mix for a perfect match.

try it you'll see.

Scott, be real careful about selecting touch-up paint for the keyboard. Many paints react to certain types of plastics and other paints. For example, acrylic laquers will blister severaly when applied over enamel finishes. You may want to check with Yamaha first to see if they have anything available. More often than not, Yamaha, at least in their marine division, will supply you with the appropriate, color-matched paint for a nominal fee.

Cheers,

Gary

I e-mailed Yamaha to see if they had any paint available, and they tell me they do not.

So, I am going to take Dnj's advise.

Thanx

Scott,

I saw an acrylic laquer made by Krylon that comes in a spray can, and from all outward appearances, their silver color was a near-perfect match. The main thing is to be sure of which type of finish is already on the keyboard. If it's enamal, which I doubt, it will react by blistering if it's covered with laquer, and vise-versa.

good Luck,

Gary

If it is for a scratch, try an automotive paint store and match to a touch up bottle or stick..
